The Last One
The Beginning of an Epic....Failure
'Run. Keep running. Don't stop.'
I dash behind a wall, attempting to hide from the monster. It sniffed around the building, and I could hear it coming closer. It stops, and I knew that it had found me.
I prayed to whatever gods might be out there, and I stepped into the open.
Standing there was a huge beast, with rolls of muscle and fur. And fangs. A hellhound.
I took a deep breath and the thing growled, scratching its paws in the dusty floor.
'This is the end.'
It charged at me, and I closed my eyes. Suddenly, I felt weightless. No pain. Nothing.
I blacked out.
------
When I came too, I was on the ground with the hellhound dead at my feet. There was a hammer smashed into its head. 'Weird.'
And standing directly above my face was a boy. He looked like a spanish elf, complete with the pointed ears.
And he was the cutest boy i'd seen. Ever.
I gasped and shot up, nearly having a head-on collision with him.
"Careful! You nearly were just eaten by a fire-breathing monster from hell," he said with a joking tone in his voice. "Stay down."
I could detect a feint blush on his cheeks. Huh.
I got up and dusted off my jeans. "Who're you?" I demand.
"Supreme Commander Leo Valdez, at your service," he replies with a mock bow.
At this, I burst into laughter, doubling over. He blushes harder.
I wipe my eyes. "You're funny," I say, smirking. "I'm Blaise. Nice to meet you."
I start towards the entrance of the building I had entered.
"Wait! Where are you going?"
"....Away."
He opens his mouth as if to say something, but I had already disappeared into the night.
