The Uprising

Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine:

POV XANDER

I do not let myself loose sleep over the troubles of other people, and thank the gods I have no troubles of my own. My time is busied with books and seeking knowledge, as it should be for people of our lineage. People may call me harsh, unfeeling and cruel, I call it: seeking enlightenment through learning. Some may say that my well-known half-sister is the good side of the spectrum of my heritage and I am the opposite side of the spectrum. They wonder how I turned out to be this way, even wondered why my mother even thought of me anyway but I am here and I have to suffer a life with pests always bugging me.

Especially today I am pested, as I figure I would read on my cabin’s porch steps, and my siblings, younger and older siblings are taunting me with trivial matters at I try to read Plato in the original Latin form. It wasn’t until Mother’s favorite, Annabeth, came to me drawing me away from my studies.
“And what is the matter that my sister approaches me?” I ask still engaging in my book.

I can imagine my half-sister putting her hands on her hips and glaring at me as I’m not even giving her a single glance. “Xander, you were,” She paused and sighed, “Requested to come to the War Council meeting.”
“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow but my vision was still glazing over my text, “I should think that only the, elected leaders of the cabin were invited to these sort of things.”
“Chiron wishes to see you.” She replies, and the manner of the way she uttered her sentence, I know it makes it feel like bile coming out her mouth.
“Oh that horse &*^#*&@^?” I replied, “He wants to see me?”
Annabeth huffs and I can almost hear her growl, “You can’t just talk about Chiron like that! He’s your teacher and-”
“No one can tell me how I should talk. I speak the way I wish to.”

I close my book with a loud thud and get up from my relaxed position, “Let’s go and see the overly glorified Centuar.”

Annabeth is so flustered with me now, she goes off in a huff and takes her pestering self away.

I allow myself to grin slightly as I walk at my own pace to the war council room. Today is my day ladies and gentlemen.
