The Uprising
Chapter Two
POV Darren.
Don’t get me wrong I am glad that I’m with the girl of my dreams, Hannah is everything to me; That’s why I am worried about her. See, when Lilly died, she completely shut down, she slept most of her time and when she was awake I asked her if she was alright and she said, “No, a better world was waiting for me when I sleep.” I asked her what that world was like as a joke but I soon began to worry because she sounded like a drug induced hallucination, and the way she reacted to it sounded like she was addicted to it. It freaked me and the others out.
But when Hannah suddenly screamed, while I was discussing plans with the others on how to get home. I thought she was dying from a relapse from her fever, in saying that I am relieved when it wasn’t that, but she hurt because of Lilly’s death. Afterwards she began to heal, but I still worry for her. Eliza and I have been talking and Eliza is said that she was worried she might come under another relapse and keep an eye for her. Which I have done a great job by the way, until now.
“Hannah, I don’t like this.” I say. I watch her pack her things in a small gym bag, she tossed a extra pair of socks into the bag and her long braid swung around and nearly wacks me in the face. “I need to bring my Mother back,” She replies, not even looking at me but still intent on packing. I reach out for her arm as she returns and she stops, still not looking at me.
Something’s wrong.
I get up and face her, “What’s wrong?” I ask.
“Nothing.” She replies.
“Why aren’t you looking at me.”
She doesn’t reply, and pulls away continuing to pack, “I just have to get Mom back.”
Hannah mumbles something else but when I ask her to say it again she just replies, “Nothing.”
I don’t push her further and with her back towards me I just gently touch her shoulder and leave her.
