Chapter 1

I can't believe I'm still with Annabeth. It's been two years since the war with Gaea, and I think I can handle a little Hangover. I mean, I'm 20 years old now.
Annabeth lay on our hotel bed, fast asleep. Here we are in Los Angles, celebrating our High School Graduation. Jason and Piper were in the next room over, Hazel and Frank across from us. Gods knows where Leo is.
I stumbled into the bathroom, glaring at myself in the bathroom mirror. My raven black hair stood up at odd angles, red lines stretching from my sea-green eyes. I looked pale, and my clothes were smelly. An alchol stain covering my chest. I pulled off my shirt, then my underwear and pants.
I hoped in the shower and turned on the water. Freezing water came down on me, and I shivered. Turning it up to eighty degrees, and placed a hand on the wall. The memories of Tartarus came back to me, and I pushed them away.
All that matters, is keeping Annabeth safe. I grinned as I remebered the silver ring in my bag. An owl entwined it. I was planning to ask Annabeth to marry me today. Only Piper knew, she'd already planned our romantic day for us. First the park, then the movies, then a fancy restraunt and then the beach, where I'll propose.
I'm so glad we got away from Camp, and all the trouble with monsters. Now, we can finally be normal teenagers for once. That'd be nice. To be normal. Ha.
I reached for some soap and rubbed myself down. The fresh smell of pineapples made me smile, water Spraying my back. I reached around and rubbed the place where my Acheille's Heel had been. Luke floated into my mind.
His sly smile, the way he took me in with open arms. Always caring, always protective. Then, I remebered him locking me, Tyson and Annabeth in his boat. My fists clenched. But, I went back to where he stabbed himself in his Acheille's Heel to save us.
A soft knock echoed through the bathroom. I answered quickly,
"Morning Wise Girl!" I waited about five minutes, before Annabeth sighed,
"Percy, you've been in the shower for two hours!" Oh. No wonder. I jumped out and wrapped myself in a towel, opening the door. Annabeth stood with her hands on her hips, looking as beautiful as ever. Even when in Hangover.
"Move aside Seaweed Brain." She gently nudged past me, and I gave her a kiss on her head. She giggled and closed the door. I finished drying myself off and pulled on some underwear, black dress pants and a white shirt with a black jacket.
"I'm going out, stay here." I said. I left our room, key card in hand and walked a couple steps to Piper and Jason's room. Right when I knocked, Piper pulled me in.
She had grown taller, her long braid decorated with colorful feathers. Her eyes kept shifting into green and brown. I'll admit, she's pretty, but not as beautiful as my Annabeth. She seated me at a small table, Jason asleep on the bed.
"Oh my gods! I'm like so excited!" She cried, fastening on my bowtie. I grinned, "Me too."
She began combing my hair, cursing to Hades every now and then, before spraying my head down with hair spray. She squealed,
"Awe! You look so adorable!" My ears turned pink, and I shuffled my hands. I stood,
"Thanks Piper. I'm gonna get myself some breakfast, Annabeth too." She nodded, "Coolies, I'm gonna chill here."
I left her room, and went to the elevator. The hallways were empty, it was only ten o'clock. I pressed the number one, with the star next to it. The doors closed, and the ride down went pretty swiftly. I grinned at the relaxing elevator music.
The doors opened with a ding, and I stepped out. I frowned at the lobby. There were no one there. It was an eerie silence as I walked over to the desk. I rang the small, cheap bell expectantly. Silence. I walked to the dining area, also empty. The food was left out, untouched.
Strange.
A small shuffling noise caught my attention. I turned to one of thr tables. A woman sat underneath it, eating something. Looked like spaghetti. I walked over,
"Um, excuse me? Do you know where everyone went?" She growled softly, and turned around. I gaped at her appearence. Her blood-shot eyes bulgded out of her sockets, and veins were poking out of her skin. Her skin, was a sickly shade of gray. I stared at the bleeding gash in her neck.
"Woah, are you okay?" I asked, eyeing her meal. Gods. It wasn't spaghetti. She made a sort of screeching noise and crawled toward me. I made a strangled noise, and dashed away. Was she some type of monster? I jumped over a table, skidding over a plate of oat meal.
The lady followed, blood spirting from her mouth. I rolled under a table, and she followed. I almost made it to the elevator. Almost.
I was tackled viciously. It snapped its teeth hungrily. My head slammed onto the cememt floor, making me lose my stability. It's nails dug into my side, causing long scratch marks. I howled in pain, closing my eyes tight. Without thinking, I took out Riptide and sliced.
The sickening plop of the head hitting the floor made me shudder. I opened my eyes, finding the beheaded thing at my feet. Holy Hera. I killed a mortal. My side burned, and I stood shaikly. My jacket was gone, and my white shirt torn. Blood began seeping from my cut.
I hobbled toward the elevator. Red dots clouded my vision. I hit the five button and collapsed in the elevator. The doors shut, and the shaft moved upward. My side was literly throbbing. I held my hand over it, trying to stop the bleeding. It came back red.
A ding announced my arrival. The halls were still empty. I limped toward Annabeth's room. My breathing was labored as I reached the door. I pounded my fist against the door. Annabeth unlocked it smiling,
"What took you so long?" I collapsed into her arms, the blood now trickling down my pants. Annabeth gasped,
"Percy! What the Hades?" She helped me over to our bed and called for Piper. Piper and Jason burst in, swords in hand. Their eyes widened at my condition. Annabeth pulled off my shirt, revealing the four long red claw marks.
Piper ran and got bandages, while Annabeth asked what happened. I told her everything, since I got on the elevator. She listened queitly as Piper poured on the porixide. I hissed as white fizz covered my marks.
"Wow... Percy, what if she passed on her disease to you? By the scratch?" Annabeth asked, wrapping it in clear white bandages. I shrugged wincing,
"Don't... Know..." Piper gave me a dark blue shirt, and I slipped it on. Jason flipped on the TV. A news lady stood, frazzled infront of New York City,
"-epidemic of some sort. Reports cased all over America. Police are warning people to stay indoors at all times. If come in contact with one of the infected, go to the nearest hospitals. We are still looking for a vaccine."
She went on and on, but my ADHD carried me away from her words. A light bulb seemed to click in my mind,
"Hey! This is like a zombie movie!" Annabeth glared at me, "Except one thing Seaweed Brain, this is real!"
"Where should we go?" Piper asked. Annabeth answered, "Robinson High School. It's a safe house, no infected aloud in."
I glanced down at my bandage. Jason nodded, "Sounds good. I'll get Frank and Hazel."
"I'll get Leo!" Piper said. Annabeth nodded as they left. I leamed back in the bed,
"Wise Girl, if... If I'm infected... Know that I love you." Annabeth glowered, "Percy Jackson! You are NOT infected! I swear, you are not turning into... One of those things."
The door opened with Jason, Hazel and Frank standing there. Frank kept giving my wound uneash glances. Hazel ran over to me,
"Percy! Are you okay?! I, I heard about everything on TV!" I nodded, "I-I'm fine." The door opened, Leo and Piper stood there. Leo looked serious and firm, behind him was Caylpso. Her eyes were caculated the situation.
"We're going to Robinson High School." I said, standing. My wound tightened. No one argued as we packed our things. I brought the needed things. Food, clothes and first aid. Also, Steve, a stuffed animal cat Annabeth got me when I lost my panda pillow pet.
All packed up, we fitted into the elevator tightly. When we reached the bottom, everyone kept glancing at the woman's beheaded figure.
"Let's go," Leo said as we entered the streets.
I had no idea, this was the last time we'd be together.
