The Blood of Titans

Chapter one Kira
When I thought of how my day was gonna start, I didn't think of teenagers with swords and giant fire-breathing snake.
Let me start over. My name is Kira Searle. I live in Boston with my mom, my step father and my step brother. Today was the day I would've started high school but apparently, other people had other plans. I woke up to the muted sound of my mom calling me from downstairs.
"Wake up Kira! We don't have time to wait for you!"
I looked over at my clock. 7:00 was flashing across the screen.
"What the heck!? Mom why didn't you wake me up?"
"I tried, you wouldn't get up."
"Ahh!"
"Better hurry!"
I jumped up out of bed and rushed to get ready. I put on a pink blouse and a pair of jeans and flip flops. I pulled my curly cinnamon hair back into a ponytail and slung on my backpack. I took a quick look at myself in the mirror. I guess I was as ready as I was gonna be. I wouldn't usally dress like this but I didn't exactly have time today. I ran downstairs to the kitchen, where my mom and stepdad were waiting.
"Morning sweetheart!"
"Morning!" I grabbed a bagel that mom had set out. She is such a great mom and person. Though sometimes she is just a bit to nice. Is it to much to ask for your mother to crack down on you once in awhile? I stuffed as much bagel as I could in my mouth and made a dash for the door. I can't be late on my first day!
"Honey wait!" I paused in the doorway and turned around in time for my mom to crush me in a bear hug. "Have a good first day of school sweetheart! I love you!"
"Ahh mom! Ok, ok I love you to!" I finally wiggled out of her death squeeze and waved goodbye to walk towards North Rockland High.

I walked up to the front doors of the office and looked around the school. There's nothing like being a new kid to give your nerves a kick. I walked inside and stepped in the front office. It looked just like every other office I'd ever seen, pictures of the staff, one huge desk with only two people sitting there. I walked up to the lady at the front desk. She was pretty in a way. Brown hair pulled back into a bun, freshly manicured fingernails, a blue dress with one of those tiny little lace jackets.
"Hi! I'm Kira Searle. The new student?"
"Yes of coarse" the lady said. "I'm Mrs.Newtington, I work in the front office so you may not see me around much." She handed me a piece of paper and an I.D. "Here is your schedule and your I.D., your first class will be in B hall which is down the hall to the left. Welcome to North Rockland!"
I said thanks and walked out into the busy hallway. The first thing that caught my eye was a boy with crutches sniffing around the hall. He had on a Yankees baseball cap (first sign something weird was up, Yankees cap in Boston) a green shirt with a smiling earth on it saying "Keep Calm and Hug A Tree!" Thing that stood out the most though was the sniffing. Sniffing book bags, lockers, people.
"I swear Percy, I smell SOMETHING! I just can't put my finger on it."
"Well hurry up man. I don't wanna be in Boston any longer then I have to."
Walking behind the kid with crutches was a boy with dark hair, tan skin, a orange shirt with a Pegasus on it, and a bead necklace.
"Well if you want YOU can do the demigod finding and I can just follow behind you."
"Don't be like that man! I just don't like Boston!"
"Yea yea ok"
The walked off towards what I assumed was the gym. What were they talking about? What's a demigod? I looked around to make sure no one was looking and walked into the gym behind them.
