The Blood of Titans

Chapter 9 Dave
I ran into the store to see Coach in a corner waving around a stone snake like a club with the lion swiping at him. I pulled out my sword and charged at the lion. I brought the blade down and it bounced right back off. Got his attention though.
The lion turned towards me and growled. He started to circle me, looking for an opening.
"Watch out kid! That's the Nemean Lion! He has impenetrable skin!"
Right! The lion on the card. The Nemean Lions legend says he and I have the same mom, Selene. How a moon goddess had a lion for a kid, I don't know. He charged forward and I side stepped as he landed on a comfy cushion of horrified stone statues. He stood up and brushed some stone ships off of his fur.
"Hey come on buddy, mommy wouldn't want us fighting! Maybe we can work something out?"
"ROAR!"
"I'll take that as a no then."
I charged forward and slashed at his eyes. He roared and pounced, pinning me to the ground. Shist.
Just as he opened his jaws Coach comes in and kicks his tail. Well that did absolutely nothing. The lion twitched his tail like he was shooing away. Luckily it bought me enough time to make my sword pop out again. Right into his eye. He roared and reared up, clawing at his eye. I was hanging by the hilt as the sword was still shoved into his eye. I pushed it in further until he stopped moving. He pooled into a cloud of dust and left behind a jacket of fur.
Coach Hedge walks over and tries to stab the jacket. His knife bent. He smiled and tossed me the jacket.
"Nice job cupcake. That's some grade A lion skin right there. Completely invulnerable."
"Thanks coach. Can we go now. I'm DONE with monsters."
"You think that was bad? Try being eaten by a giant shrimp. Or fighting a pirate with a keen eye and a giant turtle. Or a giant-"
"Ok ok I get it, you fought a lot of giants"
"You have no idea kid."
We got back into the car and drove until we found camp.
