Chapter Six Minnie
I wiped the sweat from my brow and took a swig from my jug of water while out in the fields. Looks like this years harvest was gonna be a good one. I looked around at the miles of open terrain all around me, the Campbell family farm.
My names Minnie. I've lived with my dad alone on this farm for all of my life, taking care of the plants and animals with him. My dad bought this price of land with my mom years before I was born. I never met my mom though. She disappeared after I was born.
I heard a sound coming from my house, my dad ringing the bell for supper. I threw down my trowel and ran threw the fields of corn back to the farmhouse, mud splashing up on my pants legs. I ran up to the porch panting, trying to catch my breath as my dad smiled and patted my back.
"Get a lot of work done Minnie?"
Yea dad." I gave him a hug and walked inside. "What's for dinner?"
"Pig stew. Just bought a fresh piece of pork from the market today." My dad always complains that I won't let him kill the pigs, but I can't help it. They're so cute!
"Yum!"
"Go wash up kiddo, you smell like wet manure!"
I walked back towards the bathroom and washed the mud and grime off of my hands and face. When I got back to the kitchen dad had the bowls of stew set out. I sat down across from my dad and dug in. I LOVE my dads cooking!
"So honey...I was thinking, maybe you would like to go somewhere this summer?"
I looked up from my stew. Dad never let me leave the farm unless I was going to the market.
"Like where?"
"A camp. Your mother wanted you to go when she was...still around."
"I don't know. Why should we listen to anything mom says? She wasn't exactly a good example." That's not really why I wanted to stay. Beside the food, I mostly take care of the house. What is my dad gonna do without me?
"I know but maybe you could go and make some friends! See the world beyond the cornfield. And beside, I can tend the fields by myself for ONE summer. You should go"
"Why do you want me to go so bad dad?"
"Because I can't have you to myself forever. And I know you've always wanted to see New York."
"New York?! Why all the way up there?"
"Well it's already paid by your mother. You may even meet her there."
"But..."
"No buts! Go honey, I'll be fine." My eyes welled up as I stood up to hug my dad and squealed.
"Thank you so much! I love you!"
"I know honey! Now go pack your things, the 'bus' comes tomorrow."
I stood up to put my dishes in the sink, buzzing over the fact I was going to New York.

What? What is this? More then 200 views! Bravo, bravo! Ok so I am like super proud of everyone, good work. I may not post anything this weekend because I have a BUTT load of homework this weekend. I'll try to post at least one chapter though. From now on I will post two chapters a day and possibly not at all on the weekends. Hope you enjoyed the first week of "the Blood of Titans!"
