The New Addition To The Jackson Family

Inside we walked to Chirons room. It was cluttered with old records and tapes and old junk.

“Ah, children. How may I help you?” Chiron mused.

“Sir, we would like permission to go into the mortal world. Annabeth and I would like to tell our mortal parents about school and the child.” Percy blushed on the word ‘child’. I just stood smiling.

“Well, I don't see why not.” Chiron looked at us. He smiled, “You two do make such a good couple. I’ll get Argus for tomorrow and he can drive you to see your parents.”
I hugged Chiron. “Thank you sir, for everything you have done for us.”

“You’re welcome child.” Chiron has been kinda like a mythical dad for me since I was 7 years old and came to this camp. My home has been here. It will always be my home.

“Come on Annabeth, lets go pack.” Percy grabbed my hand.

“You mean ‘Come on Annabeth, pack my stuff for me because I have too much seaweed in my brain.’” I mocked and laughed. So did Chiron.

“Haha, very funny.” Percy sneared. Well not really sneared but you get the picture.Chiron shook Percy’s hand and hugged me and kissed the top of my head. He still thought of me as a mature child, but I'm okay with that. Because to him I still am a child.

We decided to pack Percy first. I didn’t know how long we would be away so I packed him enough shirts, swim trunks, pants and undies for at least 2 months with a few laundry days. I neatly folded his clothes while he sat on his ass reading/looking at the pictures of a comic book.

“Hey guys!” Grover barged in. “Where you going?”

“Oh, we haven’t told anyone the big news. So we are going to the mortal world for a bit. Why whats up?” I asked.

“Oh, I was wonder if you could watch watch the triplets for a few hours tonight? But you guys are probably leaving early tomorrow.” He looked down. Sad by the look of it.

“Hey G-man, we’d love to watch the kids!” Percy smiled. Obviously wanting to know how to watch a child. So that when the time comes he will be ready.

“Yeah. They are so cute!” I said.

“Great! How does after dinner sound. I’m taking Juniper out for the first time since the kids.” Grover sounded so excited. He loved having fun with Juniper. In more than one way. *wink wink*

“What are their names again?” Percy asked Grover with his usual confused face.

“The girl is Sally Ann Underwood. After your mom. And the two boys are Charlie Hans Underwood and Lucas Tantan Underwood.” Grover explained.

“Hey thanks for naming the kid after me.” I said smugly.

“No problem Annie.” Grover bleated

“So what’s the difference between Charlie and Lucas?” Percy was being a babysitting dream. Asking the most important questions. Something has changed in his mind. I wonder if he really was reading a comic book or was he reading something else, like a parenting book or babysitting guide or something. I liked it though.

“Charlie has slightly lighter green skin than Lucas. You’ll see. Well, I better let you two pack. See you tonight!” And he left.

“So, babysitting. Nervous?” I asked Percy.

“Of course I’m not!” He threw his hands in the air. “This is going to be perfect!”

“Yes it is.”

“By the way, the only time I’m nervous is when you’re mad at me.” Then he kissed me. “I love you wise girl.” He grabbed my face and kissed me again.

“I love you too seaweed brain.” I mumbled as we kissed. We stopped for a moment. “I need to pack. I’ll be right back. Get all of your toiletries and bath toys ready. You hear?”

“Yes ma’am!” He saluted and marched into his bathroom and looked like he was getting them packed.

I walked to my cabin, cabin 6, and got out my dufflebag and started getting tank tops and shorts and underwear and bras and bikinis and all the stuff I need. I got my toiletries out of the bathroom.

“Where you off to this time?” Asked Malcolm my half-brother.

“I’m going to see Mrs. Jackson or is she Mrs. Blofis? Either one.” I explained.

“See her about what?” Malcolm asked.

I whispered, “The baby.” Then I pulled out the ring, “This. I want to see if Sally and Paul and my parents think its a good idea. Malcolm, you can not tell anyone else about this. I want the proposal to be a surprise and the baby a secret for as long as possible. You got that?”

“Got it Annie.” He said. “So I’m guessing I’m head counselor until you get back.”“Standard procedure.” I said folding my clothes.

“And what about after you get married? Then what?” He said slowly.

“Then you will become head counselor permanently. But I will check in on everything from time to time.” I replied.

“Cool, cool.” He said nervously. “Well, I’m going to do some archery. See ya later sis.”

“See ya bro.” I mocked. Tonight I would stay in Percy’s cabin and leave in the afternoon for his moms apartment.

For dinner I eat with my siblings and laughed and talked and made jokes. Percy was talking with Grover whom I trusted not to say anything about my plans. He and Grover were laughing. Probably remembering the days when we saved the world together. I was done with my dinner so I walked passed Percy on my way to clear my plate and kissed the top of his head quickly.

“Get back here and give me a proper kiss missy!” Percy threw his hands up in the air in frustrating.

“Nope.” I protested and ran to clear my plate, Percy got up and followed my example. Then he started chasing me around the dining pavilion. Everyone else was chanting ‘KISS KISS KISS KISS KISS!’ Percy and I were just running around the tables, laughing and pretending we were little kids playing tag. Until Mr. D showed up.

“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!” He shouted.

“Now, Mr.D, Percy and Annabeth are just playing around. Right children?” Chiron raised an eyebrow.

Percy hugged my waist from behind. “Yes sir. Sorry sir.” He apologized.

“Okay, uh. Good good. Uh, Dinner dismissed.” Mr.D gave me and Percy the stink eye. Oh great. I thought.

“Um Annabeth.” Bella came up to me.

“What’s up Bella?” I asked. She looked really nervous and freaked out.

“Um… It’s about Luke. He woke up earlier for like 2 Minutes and he called for you. Asking where you were. And, and you will be his.” She replied shakily.

“Well, Percy and I have like 15 minutes before we have a favor to do. We can stop by. See how he is.”“Great. The sooner the better.” She led us to the infirmary.
Inside Luke was sleeping soundly. I held his hand. Percy looked uneasy. Probably thinking about his dream.

“Hey, Perce, it’s fine. He’s still sleeping and he’s still in pretty back shape. He can’t hurt us right now.” Then I looked at Luke, “Hey, Luke. Long time no see. Well, in a few months I’ll be back and we can catch up.. I’ll see you soon.”

“Annabeth, lets go.” Percy wrapped his arm around me and led me out of the infirmary and down to his cabin where we would watch Sally, Charlie and Lucas Underwood.

We met Grover and Juniper outside the door.

“Sorry some last minute things to take care of. But all straightened out! I’m ready to be their favorite uncle!” Percy smiled at the kids. They were all bundled up in a carrying case.

“Here,” I said as I took Sally. She had her moms orange colored hair but it was a curly mess like her father’s and green skin like her mom. And her dads nose and ears.

“Thank you for helping Annabeth.” Juniper said. “Now here is a list of all the things you need to know. Feeding times, sleeping schedules, how to calm each one of them down. but its only for 2 hours. And um, what’s your charge?”

“Oh, Juniper. No charge at all. You guys are practically family!” I hugged her.

“Oh, Thank you dear, well we are off.”

“Have fun you two!” Percy said.

“Thanks Percy!” They both said. Now on the list it said they liked Frozen. And so does Percy. So for the 2 hours they were here we watched Frozen. Grover and Juniper came back and the Triplets were asleep. Percy and I said goodnight and we laid down and as soon as my head hit the pillow and Percy’s arms around me I passed out.

Surprisingly I didn’t have a dream and neither did Percy. Life must be going good for a day or hopefully a few months. It started off like any regular morning at camp, breakfast, early morning teasing Percy, random kisses, blah blah blah. Then the fun come! Me and Percy walked down to the camp van where Argus, our 100 eyed guard was waiting to take us to Percy’s mom’s apartment. The drive was fun. Percy and I sang along with songs on the radio. We stopped at Chipotle for lunch and got a couple of burritos to-go.

Once we got to the apartment, Argus left. This was as far as he was taking us. We stopped in front of the door. Percy had bought flowers for his mom while we were on the way. He knocked on the door. Paul answered the door.

“Hey, Sally,” He yelled behind him. The shower was on. Then the water stopped.

“Yeah?” She yelled back.

“Put your robe on and come see this.” Paul said.

“Alright, alright. I’m comi-” She gasped. “Percy!!” she hugged him. “Oh Annabeth dare you look great!” She hugged me. Then Paul hugged us.

“Hey mom!” He tipped an invisible hat to Paul. “Dad.”

“Dad? I thought you called him Paul.” I said in surprise.

“I adopted him after Sally and I got married.” Paul informed.

“Well that's awesome.”

“Why don't you come in. I’m sure you guys didn’t come all the way from Camp just to stand in a gross old hallway.” Sally ushered us to the living room.

“Yeah. Annabeth and I have some news.” Percy started.

“News? Are you too engaged!?” Sally jumped up.

“Um. Mrs. Jackson, not yet. I’m- I’m pregnant.”

There was an awkward silence.

“I’m going to be a grandfather.” Paul smiled. “That’s wonderful!”

“The problem is that the kid or kids are going to be powerful and hunted by monsters. We have
word from Poseidon and Hades that the kids will die if they are raised in the world of the gods. Therefore most of the gods are trying to make a house for us. But the gods are immortal. 5 minutes for them is like 2 years for us.” I started to get tears in my eyes. Percy moved from the recliner to the love seat where I was sitting and hugged me and whispered ‘It’s going to be alright’ over and over again.

“Well.” Sally sighed, She understands that Living in the mortal world for even 2 years is a death sentence. “I guess the best thing to do is live here in this complex so that Paul and I can watch over you and the kids.”

“That’s what I was thinking. But I could never put you two in any type of danger.” I said.

“Oh, Annabeth, dear. It’s no bother to us.” Sally hugged me. “We love you dear.”

“Love you too.” They were always like the parents to me. They were my parents when I needed them as an outcast in every school I’d ever been to. “Also, Sally can we talk alone in the kitchen please.”

“Of course sweetheart. Paul, didn’t you want to say somethings to Percy too?” Sally offered.

“Oh yes.” He said. “Come this way son.” Paul led Percy into the hallway to talk and Sally and I sat at a round glass kitchen table.

“So, What’s up Annabeth?” Sally asked. She looked so concerned. She looked like one of those friend who just found out that their friend was cutting or suicidal.

“It’s nothing bad mo- Sally.” I always do that. I always call her mom by mistake.

“Annabeth, do you remember that one mother’s day when you made me a card? Ever since then, even before then actually, I have thought of you as my daughter. Please, don’t be afraid to call me mom.” She leaned forward and kissed my forehead.

“Right, sorry.” I blushed. “I was hoping to get your opinion on this.” I reached into my pocket and pulled out the black velvet box that hold the engagement rings.

“Oh, Annabeth. These are beautiful.” She was so shocked.

“I want to propose to him.” I told her about my idea of the proposal. She loved it.
Then Paul and Percy came in and Percy said, “I’m hungry. Mom, do you have any blue cookies?”

“Yes, I do actually. They’re on the counter.” Sally handed me the box under the table so that
Percy couldn’t see.

Later that night we decided that we would stay for a week or so and caught up. Percy went to go take a shower and I showed Paul the rings. He loved them and thought I was the best girlfriend/ fiance/ wife Percy could ever have. And I naturally agreed.

Percy and I slept in his old room. He had all sorts of pictures of me from when we were in high school. One year he came to San Francisco and went to my high school. I think that was Junior year. I had been at the school a year or so and everyone looked at me so differently when Percy surprised me on the first day. Then for Senior year we went to Goode together. Those two years were perfect. The best two years of my high school life. I fell asleep thinking back on all the dates and all the happy moments. I was on Percy’s bare chest when I woke up. And it would be the same routine for about a week. Then we left for San Francisco to tell my parents.
