The Hope in Our Scars

Chapter Two

Being isolated with a super good looking boy wasn't half so bad. The bad part of the isolation was giving into awkward moments that Leo Valdez and I would have few times during the day.
On one morning, when I was half awake and I snuggled up against the warm body that was next to mine. I guess I was mostly in sleep-trance because when Leo and I woke up, I felt myself resting my head on Leo's thighs which I was drooling on. My cheeks felt would burst into sheepish flames. But the kind and charming boy he was, Leo was just wave away my apologies and instead shared with me a joke about how cute girls were when they without noticing end up drooling on another boy's pants. I was just trying not hard to laugh at my ridiculous self while Leo just playfully punched my arm.
Over the next few series of days that made me admire Leo Valdez even more than I already did, were probably the one and only days in which we both seemed to have feelings for eachother. In the morning we would head to shore to just wade in the shallow part of the sea-until one of us dared the other to go farther and farther away from land. As I took my last few steps into the deeper currents, my head would just bobble from the surface to under the water. I focused on staying afloat, but my body wouldn't quite listen to the voices in y head commanding to not drown. Whatever I do, do not drown!
Even as I thought so, my foot slipped onto a piece of shell, and I felt my body sink under currents. My body struggling to bring oxygen flowing into my lungs. I could feel liters of water clogging my eyes, ears, and mouth. I was numb to even feel to thin, but muscular hands lift me, above the water.

"Are you ok, Lily?"
Hmmm, I thought as I glimpsed the sun setting out in the horizon of the sea. I awoke from whatever realm of sleep I had just awoken from. I still felt cold, despite the heat that warmed my body.
I looked around. We were still in the ocean. Above it to be exact. We were exactly boarding a flying broze dragon, that seemed to be a machine, but it was flying?! In the air. With Lilac and Leo as their passengers on flight.
In front of me, I could see Leo, his curly black hair, flying in the air-a big determined positive grin plastered across his face. I left no regrets or feelings of embarassment as I wrapped my arms around Leo's abdomen. And I smelled his familiar scent of distant machinery, tinkering, and hot, burning flames. The smell brought her confidence, it made her feel loved and gave her hope.
The embarrassing feeling came back to me as I stared down at my supposed outfit. I was wearing nothing but my underwear and a sleeveless dress that only reached down a few inches from her waist-just nearly a few milimeters away from her butt.
To my horror, Leo stared at me sheepishly, as if this was his choice of fashion.
"This was the only material I could find," explained Leo, blushing very hardly. "I'm not a good sewer at all, and umm-I just didn't want to leave you to catch a cold or anything."
I found that very sweet that Leo had gone through all of the troubles-for me. A tingling content sensation rippled through my veins.
"It's all in this baby," said Leo, and he patted on his toolbelt that covered his waist. "I could seriously get any tool from this bad boy. I could probably make one of my famous tofu tacos."
He wiggled his eyebrows at me. "You'll simply fall head over heals over my famous tofu tacos."
"I know I'm already head over heals to the boy who's sweet enough to save my life-twice."
Silence. But not the eerie silence, after an argument has sprung up in a household. It was a silence that told me Leo was too embarassed and speechless to speak. I was right. I couldn't help but smile has a red bouquet of roses blossomed on Leo's cheeks.
Without another word, tentatively I placed a gentle kiss onto his lips, which instead back fired on me, making me feel like I was already done melting after a day of being a bar of chocolate under the warm sunshine giving sun.
I knew nothing could ruin this moment. It was too good to be fake. It was all true. I felt myself smiling even more, as I parted my lips from Leo's that sent a shivering sensation up my body.
To take my mind off the kiss, I adjusted the sleeve to make sure it wasn't slipping off. I then realized I wasn't wearing my under shirt or bra. Another horrifying thought came into my head. I knew why Leo was acting so shyly about his gift to me.
To thank him for all he has done, I just simply rested my chin, on his chest and heard every heart beat that filled the starry night-the sunset had long gone departed the Earth.
With every heart beat, my eye lids grew heavier, until the weight was no longer bearable and left me to surrender to the calming darkness.
