The Original Character Court

Jasmine Maria Salazar

Time check: 2217. Girlfriend is busy writing a few feet away from me and I'm bored.

Submitted by: Claire Winter
Basics
Name: Jasmine Maria Salazar
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Birthday: January 19
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hair color: Black, usually in pigtails
Eye color: Warm brown
Height: 4'10"
Weight: 90 lbs
Other physical descriptions: She's small in stature, so she's not very strong, but moves light on her feet.
[Good. Makes sense.]
Sexual orientation: Heterosexual
Godly parent: Hecate
[Niiiice. Though I noticed that Hecate's becoming more and more used.]
Mortal parent: Rafael Salazar
[Nice name]

Other relationships:
Friends-

Lou Ellen - Half-sister and best friend. When Jasmine arrives at Camp, Lou is the only one Jasmine immediately bonded with. Lou is Jasmine's older sister, both literally and figuratively. The two have a special relationship, and they would do anything for each other.
[Ah, sibling love. I don't get along well with my little brother and I kinda envy those who get along with their siblings.]

Adam Allbright - Friend and sword fighting tutor, son of Ares. Since Jasmine was and still is plain pitiful at fighting with a sword, Adam volunteered to help teach her. Since then, the two have formed a strong friendship, but the sword skills have stayed the same- she doesn't have any.
[I don't know why I laughed. But this is a cute interaction and thank you for breaking the stereotype that all kids of Ares are mean.]

Family-

Violeta Salazar - Step-mom, mortal, can see through the Mist. Jasmine and her stepmother have a good mother-daughter relationship with each other, although Jasmine didn't like her at first. Over time, the two eventually grew closer into the relationship they have today.
[Good for breaking the stereotype of evil step-parent.]

Rafael Salazar- Father, mortal. Jasmine and he father have a good father-daughter relationship, and she lives with him, her step-mom, and mortal half-siblings during the school year.
[An OC who actually has good family relations. A rare-type indeed.]

Isabel Salazar- Younger half-sister, mortal. Age 7.

Carlos Salazar- Younger half-brother, mortal. Age 10.

Personality
Positive traits: Jasmine is outgoing, but most people write her off as the weird one. She's weird even for most standards of weirdness, and because of that, she doesn't have many friends. She has lots of crazy ideas, but most of them don't work. Ironically, the ones that do are the craziest ones.
[What makes her weird?]

Jasmine doesn't like and isn't likely to do things which may generate conflict. Loyal and faithful. Jasmine isn't interested in leading or controlling others. She's flexible and open-minded, going with her creativity, and she likes to enjoy the present moment.

Negative traits: Jasmine is, to put it bluntly, oblivious to lots of forms of showing emotion. She can get the really big hints, but other than that, nope. She can't tell when anyone's angry, sad, lonely, bored, embarrassed, excited, lovestruck, or otherwise. She's horrible at reading people. Like I said, oblivious.
[She sounds like my girlfriend. Hahaha! I mean, my girlfriend can tell when people are angry but other than that, she thinks everyone's fine and she'll probably kill me if she reads this.]

Jasmine is also quite indecisive.(More explained later since this is part of her fatal flaw.)
[Looking forward to it.]

Fears/Phobias: Jasmine is claustrophobic due to a time when her little brother accidentally locked her in a small closet when she was seven. She stayed in the closet for four hours before anyone got her out.
[That would make me feel claustrophobic.]

Fatal Flaw: Jasmine's fatal flaw is the fact that she's easily manipulated. She trusts people faster than she should, and that often leads to conflicts about which side of a conflict is truly 'the good side'. When she tries to think about it, her mind is torn between the facts and her feelings. This goes along with her indecisiveness, a lot of the times leaving things undecided.
[Oh interesting flaw. Unique too.]

Combat-related questions
Camp: Half-Blood
Weapon of choice: Jasmine isn't very skilled with any weapons. She's currently being taught in sword fighting by a son of Ares named Adam Allbright, but she hasn't been improving much. Despite her lack in skill with weapons, she carries a dagger with her just in case.
[Dangerous, dangerous.]

Powers and Abilities: Since Jasmine is a child of Hecate, she is skilled in some forms of magic. She's also pretty good at Mist manipulation, though nowhere near as good as Hazel.
[Okay, this makes up for the weakness with weapons.]

Backstory: Jasmine grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, with her father and step-mother. She had dyslexia and ADHD, but that didn't bother her. She tried her hardest in school, but didn't do well. In third grade she got sent to the Special Ed class, where she spent the remainder of her time until she was 10, when she had her first encounter with a monster, a dracanae, and got kicked out of school.
[Why?]
Her father decided to tell Jasmine about her Greek heritage, and she went to Camp that summer.
[I assume her father brought her to Camp.]
She came back to Camp every summer, training with the other campers, and then attending school during the rest of the year.

At the age of fourteen(5 years after the second Giant War), tension began to build between the Roman and Greek camps, set off by a mistake
[Which was?]
on Jasmine's part and blown into full-scale war. Much to the campers' disbelief, Jasmine was chosen by Hestia
[Why Hestia?]
to lead the quest to restore the peace between the two camps. After much struggle, Jasmine finally completed her quest successfully, and the two camps were at peace again.

(I'm kinda lazy, so I didn't add as much detail as I could've to the quest part of the backstory -_-')

[Ah we get those at times.]

Comments:
Aside from the backstory (which was actually pretty good but not that detailed), this OC's pretty good.

Final judgement: Elysium
I could probably get her to Isles of the Blessed but the missing details kind of matter. Good job.
