The Original Character Court

Jasmine Maria Salazar (resubmission)

[Kara and Laurel]
So Kara reviewed this person before but we're pretty much going to alternate or smth. Uh... she might comment more? IDK.
We'll see how this goes. -Kara

Submitted by: Claire Winter
Basics
Name: Jasmine Maria Salazar
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Birthday: January 19
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hair color: Black, usually in pigtails
Eye color: Warm brown, the color that usually reminds you of cinnamon, but less of an orange tint.
Height: 4'10"
Weight: 90 lbs
Other physical descriptions: She's small in stature, so she's not very strong, but moves light on her feet.
Sexual orientation: Asexual (Decided to change this. It just felt right.)
[That's okay! Representation is always great! Just make sure you portray it correctly. :) ]

Personality
Positive traits: Jasmine is outgoing, but she can be odd at times. She doesn't quite fit in culturally.[How?] What would normally be the expected response in any situation is definitely not what comes out of her mouth. She knows facts that most people don't, and she often surprises people with the odd little tidbits of information [A little vague. How are those tidbits of info odd? Can you give examples?] she stores in that brain of hers. Because of that, the only people who treat her equally are her friends. Most others are just, well... weirded out. They try to steer clear of her. She has lots of crazy ideas, but most of them don't work. Ironically, the ones that do are the craziest ones.
Jasmine doesn't like and isn't likely to do things which may generate conflict. Loyal and faithful. Jasmine isn't interested in leading or controlling others. She's flexible and open-minded, going with her creativity, and she likes to enjoy the present moment.
[Still a little iffy but better than last time - Kara]

Negative traits: Jasmine is, to put it bluntly, oblivious to lots of forms of showing emotion. She can get the really big hints, but other than that, nope. She can't tell when anyone's angry, sad, lonely, bored, embarrassed, excited, lovestruck, or otherwise. She's horrible at reading people. Like I said, oblivious. Jasmine is also quite indecisive. (See fatal flaw.)

Fears/Phobias: Jasmine is claustrophobic due to a time when her little brother accidentally locked her in a small closet when she was seven. She stayed in the closet for four hours before anyone got her out.

Fatal Flaw: Jasmine's fatal flaw is the fact that she's easily manipulated. She trusts people faster than she should, and that often leads to conflicts about which side of a conflict is truly 'the good side'. When she tries to think about it, her mind is torn between the facts and her feelings. This goes along with her indecisiveness, a lot of the times leaving things undecided.

Family and Background
Godly Parent: Hecate
Mortal Parent: Rafael Salazar
Other relationships:
Friends-

Lou Ellen - Half-sister and best friend. When Jasmine arrives at Camp, Lou is the only one Jasmine immediately bonded with. Lou is Jasmine's older sister, both literally and figuratively. The two have a special relationship, and they would do anything for each other.

Adam Allbright - Friend and sword fighting tutor, son of Ares. Since Jasmine was and still is plain pitiful at fighting with a sword, Adam volunteered to help teach her. Since then, the two have formed a strong friendship, but the sword skills have stayed the same- she doesn't have any.

Family-

Violeta Salazar - Step-mom, mortal, can see through the Mist. Jasmine and her stepmother have a good mother-daughter relationship with each other, although Jasmine didn't like her at first. Over time, the two eventually grew closer into the relationship they have today.

Rafael Salazar- Father, mortal. Jasmine and he father have a good father-daughter relationship, and she lives with him, her step-mom, and mortal half-siblings during the school year.

Isabel Salazar- Younger half-sister, mortal. Age 7.

Carlos Salazar- Younger half-brother, mortal. Age 10.
[Okay, I probably should've mentioned this in the previous review, but can you expand a little on how Jasmine gets along with her two half-siblings? - Kara]

Backstory: Jasmine grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, with her father and step-mother. She had dyslexia and ADHD, but that didn't bother her. She tried her hardest in school, but didn't do well. In third grade she got sent to the Special Ed class, where she spent the remainder of her time until she was 10, when she had her first encounter with a monster, a dracanae. It resulted in a broken leg which took time to heal. After that, her father removed her from school -- as well as telling her about her Greek heritage he kept secret from her -- and sent her to Camp Half-Blood. Although she's not exactly powerful enough to merit a year-long stay, her father worries about her incessantly and asks her to stay the full year, for her own good -- however, she takes frequent trips to visit her family.
At the age of fourteen(5 years after the second Giant War), tension began to build between the Roman and Greek camps. Jasmine was part of a group that was supposed to travel to Camp Jupiter and try and smooth things over, but an offhanded comment on Jasmine's part blew the whole thing up in their faces. (She still can't remember what the comment actually was.) [But you as the author should. Because it's plot-relevant.] It eventually turned into full-scale war. Once again, the gods were having trouble, split because of their Roman and Greek personas. One minor goddess, Eirene(the Goddess of peace) wasn't as affected, because of her minority as a deity and because of her striving to achieve peace -- her two personas were united in this goal. Eirene -- much to the disbelief of the campers at Camp Half-Blood -- chose Jasmine to lead the quest for peace. (Quote follows below.)

"The cause of this problem is the only solution. The offender is the only one who can make things right. Jasmine Salazar, you must lead this quest to bring peace between Greeks and Romans once again." -- Eirene, goddess of peace
[Okay. Serious canon-problem here.]

After much struggle, Jasmine finally completed her quest successfully, and the two camps were at peace again. (Can't exactly figure out how to put much detail into that XP)
[Yeah. Okay. Serious canon problem.]

Combat-related questions
Camp: Half-Blood
Weapon of choice: Jasmine isn't very skilled with any weapons. She's currently being taught in sword fighting by a son of Ares named Adam Allbright, but she hasn't been improving much. Despite her lack in skill with weapons, she carries a dagger with her just in case.
Powers and Abilities: Since Jasmine is a child of Hecate, she is skilled in some forms of magic. She's also somewhat skilled in Mist manipulation. (Not quite near Levesque level, though. Not yet.)

Comments:
Okay so you fixed some things so four for you.
But I'm sorry. This was an error on my part. There were some things I failed to notice in the first review (such as the whole, it's messing with canon big time but I can let that part pass because it's fanfiction so whatever.)
There were also a few parts that weren't really thought off and you tried to pass it off with the whole "the character can't remember." I mean, that's fine. Really. You're character can't remember, that's okay. Maybe she didn't notice. But since you're the author, you have to know. And I honestly don't one teensy-little comment is going to spark off a war. Romans are people who are proud of themselves, yes. They may get offended by comments like whatever she made but I doubt they'd risk the lives of their people by going to war just to prove themselves against a comment. So serious plot-error there.

Final judgement: Elysium
I should probably put her in Asphodel but seeing as to how I'm partly responsible for that, it seems fair to bump your rating up.
