Of Vines and Men

Ever since I had agreed to help Luke, everything lightened up. Less weird glances, less security on me, more trust. Calum had clung around me more, and whether I admit it or not, it felt nice to have him back. I couldn't help but feel more at home as time went on, as sick as it sounded. It was weird, I didn't see Luke nearly as much as the beginning.
It was Wednesday-I'd started scribbling on the walls to keep track- in the morning. Pushing the hair out of my eyes was roughly interrupted by someone grabbing my wrist, pulling me off the bed. I squeaked in surprise, looking up to see Luke.
"Hey! No tugging till noon!" I snapped, scrambling to my feet as he continued dragging me down the hall.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" Luke practically yelled at me, stopping suddenly.
I stared at him, "What?" He huffed, pushing me into the wall. My back hit the wall, and I mumbled an 'oof'.
"You didn't tell me the things he can do! With water!" Luke shouted, and I could feel my body shut down.
"Everyone knows what he can do, Luke." I kept my voice level, determined to be the one to stay calm.
"No, not everyone." He mimicked my tone, "Do you want me to hurt Amira?"
My internal temperature skyrocketed, I could feel my heart beating faster, pain pricked behind my eyes and I had to hold back from making Luke go insane. "I'm on your side, Luke. I thought you weren't that low." My jaw clenched, breathing deeply. I could feel the truth in my own words, and it surprised me. Maybe I was on his side, and I couldn't tell if it felt good or not.
