Of Vines and Men
Eighteen
Luke's threat to Amira made me distance myself. I was helping him, but he didn't get to threaten my best friend.
I snapped at Luke, slamming paper onto his desk. "You need to trust me. Threats to my best friend get you nowhere."
"She would've found you."
"I would've found a way out by that logic."
"Why haven't you, then. you care so much about your friends, all you did was complain. Why are you still here?" He didn't even look at me. I was helping him, that's why. Cause I'll be damned if I don't do whatever I can. Preparations were almost done, and I could feel a battle coming on. The energy buzzed around me, and I was pissed.
"Because I'm helping you, Castellan." I huffed, "Obviously."
"Well, if you're so helpful, a battle is starting. Go to Manhattan." He ordered, waving me off. It pissed me off when he did that, but I went anyway, walking into the hallway and down the stairwell. The garage below the apartments was filled with soldiers, and I grabbed a sword. Everyone was lined up and orderly. Mae nodded to me and I lifted the garage gate, cars humming to life behind me.
Time to give 'em hell.
Notes
It's been so long, I gotta get back into writing this!
