Death and Water

Bermuda

JADE’S POV
I took in the god of the sea. He was wearing gray Bermuda shorts, a striped orange Bermuda shirt, and a fishing hat, with fishing hooks on his shirt and hat. He looked like any regular New England fisherman. Except for the fact that he radiated power. He seemed every bit the calm, strong, persistent man the ocean is, but there was also something unstable about him. Like the ocean, ready to turn any minute, to kill thousands of crews mercilessly, and beat unyieldingly against the coasts of the world, taking millions of lives without thinking twice. Percy was nothing liked that, I felt as if something was missing.
“Why, if it isn’t my two little spawns, united as they should have been from the beginning” both of us stop, mid breath. I feel my breath lighten, and dark spots begin to cross my eyes. You are not going to faint jade! I yell at myself. I force myself to take breath, and curl my hands into a fist. I feel the sweet pain as my nails pierce my flesh, and I regain my focus.
“I’m sorry?” I manage to breathe out. Which is more than Percy could, his face had turned the same color as seaweed, and he looked as if he were about to retch.
“ I’m sorry I haven’t been able to answer, but things have been a bit… ah, difficult. It will all make sense soon enough. And I’m sorry to say you two will be more involved than your fair share. But, I know you two are up for it. No one else is more capable. The truth to my late arrival was that I claimed you when you were first born, I was there actually, and I was there for your first six years, although you probably don’t remember much” she faintly recalled a pair of shimmering green eyes.
“Then why did you leave me” jade yells, trying to bite back tears, but letting the anger and hurt out clearly in her voice. His eyes soften in sympathy.
“I’m sorry my child, but I realized that in order for you to gain enough strength to endure your fate, I could not baby you.” He says, holing his hands out like, ‘what could you do.’
“That is not a good enough excuse for leaving me to die!” I yell.
“The pits were not your place to die-“
“Who are you to judge that, father!” I spit at him, then turn to run away, as far from the ocean and my father as I could.
