Death and Water

Trust me

NICO’S POV
Nico had to admit he was a little surprised to see jade speed by him, tears in her eyes, and her hands bleeding, she didn’t seem like the crying type. She bumped passed him, muttering a weak apology, heading out towards the woods, without a weapon.
Nico sighed and ran a hand through his hair, the girl would die in there, no matter how good everyone said she was with a dagger. It wouldn’t kill you to be nice once in a while, he mutters to himself. He laughed at the irony of the son of hades encouraging himself to be nice, and set off after the strange girl with a crowded past.
It took him a while to find her she was fast, and quiet. It was only because of a few crushed leaves, and her smell that Nico could follow her. She smelled strong, of sea air and caramel. He stumbled into a clearing, looking around for her, but finding nothing, as if she had been picked up out of the air. For a second he was afraid that that was exactly what happened.
His thoughts were stopped when a dark hilted dagger hit the ground perfectly between his feet. After steadying his heart a little, Nico looked up to find the girl hanging out on a tree branch, eyeing him coolly, her eyes still slightly puffy, but other than that, as guarded and harsh as himself.
“What do you want son of hades?” she ask, her voice cold and cruel. He sighs, this girl was trouble, and he should just turn around now. But looking at her, he can’t help but be reminded of him, and how much he wished someone had been there for him when he was going through this.
“I imagine you found out who your parent is?” he asks, leaning casually on a tree branch, brushing one hand through his hair and sticking one hand in his skinny jeans. He could feel her eyes roll from way up.
“Why do you care?” she asks.
“I remember when I found mine, trust me, I was not very happy either. But come on, it can’t be that bad, who is it Ares? Athena?” he asks. She hops of the tree and lands with a soft thud. Very impressive considering it was a twenty foot drop.
“Poseidon” she says in a strained voice. “He showed up when Percy and I were having a friendly talk, and told us we were siblings. I think he's still trying not to throw up” she says sighing.
Nico whistled, “I would’ve put my money on Athena, although, I wouldn't have been surprised with Aphrodite” he says.
“What, you think I’m as shallow and stupid as the Aphrodite girls” she says, crossing her arms. Nico chuckles slightly, then stops, the sounds strange and foreign, she didn’t seem to notice.
“Watch it, my current girlfriend is in Aphrodite” he says, eyeing her coolly this was a totally different type of girl. One he didn't care getting close to. Aphrodite and Apollo girls were easy, Hermes and Demeter too, just a few compliments, tortured past thing, bad boy attitude, and they’re practically throwing themselves at him. He didn’t like a girl who saw past all that. That’s dangerous.
“Current?” she asks, eyeing him back, picking up the dagger, and twirling it talentedly around her slim long fingers.
“As in this week” he says, flashing a crooked grin. She rolled her eyes and threw the dagger at a bird he hadn’t even noticed had been there earlier. The bird dropped dead, and she casually walked over, picked it up, grabbed he dagger, wiped it on her jeans, and casually put in her bag.
“Never know where you're going to get your next meal from” she says casually shrugging.
“What are you talking about, you’re next meal is the camp dinner” he says.
“I’m not staying here, everyone is going to go freaking crazy, a new kid of the big three, great, the prophecy is fulfilling itself, not long until the last kid shows up and were all forced to go on a speed trip to fucking Athens or whatever and save the world. Well I don’t give a fuck. I owe you people nothing. And you agree son of hades. You never come here anyway, pop in time to time to break up with your old girlfriend and get new one, use her and then leave.”
“So you do know who I am” he says, uninterested.
“Everyone does. You know you’re part of the prophecy too” this surprised him, “although you don’t care do you, you wouldn’t give your life for these people. I don’t see why they expect me to do it for them, when they wouldn’t for me.” she turned on her side, about to leave before I grabbed her wrist.
“You would go on that prophecy because you're a hero, trust me, I can tell” he says harshly. She rips her wrist out of his hand and heads back towards the camp, probably to skin her bird and sacrifice it to a demon or something.
