The Daughter of Death

Halfway through the Prophecy

Ai, Aiko, Sebastian, and the Egyptian looking girl sat at one end of the ping pong table. Behind them the guy with Greek armor stood with arms crossed looking all intimidating. The Russian guy with the suite was leaning at the wall behind them, his fedora tilted at an angle giving the impression that he was asleep. On the other end, Jason and Percy were sitting down while the rest were standing up. Tension was in the air, Rachel, Chiron, and Clarisse were facilitating the meeting in case something “out of hand” happens, at least that’s how Chiron put it into words. Out of everyone, only Sebastian was smiling.

“Ok, let’s start with introductions.” Sebastian said cheerfully. “I am Sebastian. On the far end is Ai, beside her is Aiko. On my left is Iris. The guy on the far back is Feliks, and behind me is Callister.”

“Then, this is …” Jason started.

“We already know who you all are.” Iris interrupted. Jason just fell silent which made the tension thicker.

Silence filled the air.

“Ok.” Rachel said trying to save the situation. “Guys, these are the children of Thanatos.” She tried cheerfully.

“I thought all demigods were supposed to be sent here.” Piper reminded.

“Well, they’re different from most demigods.” Rachel replied. “They kind of … um” Rachel glanced at Sebastian who was still smiling. “They work.”

“So, what do they need?” Percy interrupted seriously.

“We need to find our sister,” Sebastian answered. “We believe she’s in this camp.”

“What makes you say that?” Annabeth asked.

Iris laughed.

“Oh please, you must be stupid no to notice.” She scoffed.

“Excuse me?!” Annabeth exclaimed.

“OK!” Rachel blurted standing up. “Time out, time out. All they need is to take their sister back and camp would go back the way it would.”

“What do you mean camp would go back the way it would?” Calypso thought.

“I am afraid our sister’s gift had already,” Sebastian stopped to think. “Affected a few people.”

“What gift?” Leo asked.

“Big sister is mad.” Ai answered magically. “But not in the angry way.” Aiko laughed.

Sebastian smiled.

“In a way, she makes you think differently. Maybe that’s way your group is quite, separated.”
Leo glanced at Calypso, who glanced at Percy, who glanced at Annabeth, who was starting at Sebastian with her wild stormy eyes.

Suddenly screams echoed from outside the big house. Every camper in the big house stood up and ran outside. The screams were getting louder, everyone can hear the bash of armor and the clang or swords. People were running about as Chiron got out of the big house. The Ares cabin were shouting for Clarisse to lead them.

“What’s happening?” Percy asked grabbing the nearest camper that ran towards him.

“The Nemean Lion! It just stood up and attacked!”

“Oh my,” Calypso whispered. Everyone’s face was in dire dread.

“Jason lets go!” Percy ordered, which Jason gladly complied.

The two ran, Annabeth following behind to gather the other campers.

“I’ll get the wounded.” Calypso said under her breath. She was about to run when Leo suddenly grabbed her hand. She gazed back at him. For a moment they shared deep stare.

“Don’t get hurt.” He demanded.

She just smiled. “I won’t.” With that parting, he let go of her hand as the two rushed on opposite directions.

“Oh,” Sebastian lightly stated standing up. “That was shorter than expected.”

“This has gone on long enough.” Iris sighed.

“Callister, you do know that they won’t defeat that lion.” Sebastian said scratching the back side of his head. “After all you can’t kill what’s already dead.”

Outside the Lion wreaked havoc, destroying cabins and knocking down trees. The children of Ares tried to corner it once again but the giant cat wasn’t falling for the same trick again. It pounced at the demigods one by one leaving large claw marks and deep wounds.

Leo teamed up with Percy and Jason. He kept blasting fire balls at it, however, today his coordination with Percy’s an absolute wreck and the two just got in each other’s way.

“Guys, I can’t have a clear shot!” Jason shouted.

“It’s no use, we can’t summon up storms here.” Percy cursed under his breath.

Suddenly the temperature went down. Bits of snowflakes fell heavenly from the air.

“Snow?” Piper gasped. “In summer?”

The Lion roared, it was somehow trapped, scared. It kept its distance from Percy, Leo, and the other campers. Suddenly, a guy wearing a suite appeared in front of the lion. His fedora was tilted back revealing his sad, cold, blue eyes. He wielded his giant scythe. This time the lion was panicked with fear. It roared against the looming threat, not wanting to be backed at a corner. It attacked out of desperation. However, once it was within the range of the man’s cold cruel reach, he slashed his scythe, and the Nemean Lion was reduced to ash.

“There was no way you could have defeated him.” Feliks said. “The only one successful was Hercules himself. Now let’s get back.” He tilted his fedora once more.

“We can’t,” Percy said. “Our camp’s in ruins, we have more things to do then to search for you sister. Beside, no one has white hair in this camp.”

Feliks stared at Percy. Their eyes locked as the son of the sea god felt a bitter cold in his bones. It had the chills of death, the oath of its icy breath surely reaching you, a mere pebble at its path. It if wasn’t for Jason and Leo beside him, he wouldn’t snap out this chilly feeling.

“Percy Jackson” the suited man scoffed. “I see your value, but you mouth is noisier than your sword.”

It was already evening when everything was finally in order, though a few building needed repairs. There was no bonfire that night. There were too many injured people to even start a small group of singing. Everyone was in the infirmary, taking care of one another. Sebastian was the only one left. He felt that his “presence” would uplift the camp in some way.

“So what’s the deal” Rachel said walking towards him in the middle of the strawberry fields.

“A beautiful cage still has iron bars.” The winged demigod sighed.

“Hey, can I ask you something?”

“Go on.”

“So, why is it that when we met, you’re like this child? So were the twins?”

“Ah, the glory of human perception. You see what you want to see Miss Dare.”

Sebastian stared at the stars. This made Rachel copy him.

“The deal’s off. Our sister’s not here anymore. Also, it looks like only you yourselves can undo the madness that was inflected unto this camp.” Sebastian said breaking the silence. “Though, I believe, you better take account for all of your campers. Especially the once who is near death.”

With this Rachel’s eyes widened. She ran away mindful of the plants, and leaving Sebastian in the open field.

“A child of death walks through the night” She whispered. “With planned deceit shall fail the light.”

“It’s her” she thought. She had reached the clearing were campers were limping and trying to reach their cabins.

“The strongest fall to words combined. Just like the prophecy.”

Rachel slammed the door in the infirmary and ran towards Annabeth. “Annabeth!” she screamed. “It’s the prophecy! It’s happening right now!”
