The Daughter of Death

A Day in the Life of a Demigod (part 1)

8:00 am

Lexie woke up in the infirmary. She quickly sat up which made her a little bit dizzy. She analyzed the room and heightened her senses, clearly there was no one around. She looked down at her clothes, it was the Camp Half Blood uniform, her jeans were new, and so were her sneakers. She stood up a little bit wobbly. She stared at the door. Surely enough, someone came in. He was rather tall, blonde hair, fairly muscular, scar on lip, and his eyes were stormy blue. His shirt was different then hers, she had never seen it before in the camp.

"Good, you're awake!" The man said cheerfully. "I'm Jason, Son of Jupiter, or would you rather prefer Zeus" He chuckled but Lexie just stared at him cautiously.

"I just came by to check, no need to be all defensive." He continued. "Oh, and Annabeth wanted me to give this to you."

He handed Lexie a detailed time table and list of activities, chores, training preference, and competitions.

"She wanted to give this to you in advance. Right now it’s 8:45 am but everyone's still in the mess hall. For the mean time, you should rest and drink nectar. Annabeth's gonna come and pick you up and give you the tour of the camp when she's done. For the meantime, do you have any questions?"

Lexie sat down. She was never good in communicating, then again where she comes from there was really no need to communicate. The rule was to follow and never talk back, don't speak unless spoken to, and never ask stupid questions.

"No questions." She answered.

There was silence in the room. Jason rubbed the back side of his head.

"I hope you don't mind me asking," he continued. "Why do you have scars all over your body?"

Lexie looked at her arms, her scars were showing. Now she stands out more. This was the whole reason she never took off that sweater.

"Mother" Lexie replied, thinking of the next word she would say. "Mother, wants, uhm .. Mother trains, needed better." She sighed, frustrated unable to complete a sentence.

Jason clenched his fist. She stared at the thirteen year old girl in front of her.

"You’re safe now." He assured her.

The door opened and Piper and Annabeth came in.

"Her scars, her mother gave them." Jason said suddenly. "This is the exact same thing we should be preventing!" He continued in outrage. Jason stormed off. Piper sadly looked at Annabeth and chased after her boyfriend.

"I did wrong?" Lexie said discouraged.

Annabeth came closer and hugged the poor girl. "You did nothing wrong."

9:00 am – Ancient Greek with Annabeth

Annabeth gave Lexie the tour of the camp. To the blonde Daughter of Athena, Lexie was like a little sister. The little girl was 5 ft. tall, wearing an oversized Camp shirt, and everywhere she looked there were amazement in her eyes. Of course, there was a part of Annabeth that didn’t trust this person completely, but how could she be all that bad? The poor girl got excited at the site of the Strawberry Fields for Olympus sake.

Annabeth brought Lexie to the cabins while explaining each and every one. Lexie stopped by Cabin 13, Hades’ Cabin. She pointed eagerly thinking it was her cabin. Annabeth came over and rubbed her head.

“I’m sorry Lex, but that isn’t your cabin. It’s Nico’s.”

Lexie looked down discouraged.

“I still don’t know where your cabin is, since you’ve already been claimed, and we still don’t know your godly parent. For the meantime, I’ll make arrangements for you to sleep in the big house.”

Lexie nod in obedience. The two continued walking.

“I figured before you should learn Ancient Greek you should learn Basic English.” Annabeth explained. “Our class will start tomorrow, 9:00-10:30”

Lexie’s eyes were filled with delight, she hugged Annabeth all of a sudden. At first, the blonde didn’t know how to react. She just laughed and hugger her back.

10:30 – Preparing the Mess Hall with Rachel (Lexie’s Chores)

Annabeth took Lexie to the Mess Hall where she would do her morning chores. The only one there was Rachel. As Annabeth walked away, Lexie waved good bye to her.

“So,” Rachel said excitedly, “You’re the new meat”

Lexie didn’t know how to react. The red head laughed at her. She put an arm around Lexie’s shoulder.

“I’m the Camp’s Oracle.” She said proudly. “But today, I’m your cleaning buddy.” Rachel smiled and handed Lexie a mop. Lexie cleaned near Rachel, minding her every move. The red-head told her stories of Camp which made Lexie laugh, smile, and pout.

“Ok, we’re nearly done.” Rachel said wiping sweat from her brow. “All we needed to do is clean those beams above us. It’s hard to climb up there.”

Lexie took the opportunity to impress Rachel. She moved closer to one of the pillars and quickly climbed up until she reach the beams of the Hall.

“Thingy.” She said proudly said pointing at the broom.

“Wow that was amazing!!” Rachel yelled throwing the broom straight up. Lexie just gave her a big smile.

11:00-12:00 –Riding the Rapids with Percy (Battle Training)

Lexie went to the lake according to the directions Rachel gave her, and the map of camp. There were a lot of people who wanted to go canoeing. She felt super intimidated at the site of the campers. Slowly, she backed away.

“Lexie!” someone screamed. A guy came running towards her, which made her want to run away. “Hey! I’m Percy”

The tall, green eyed, Son of the Sea God pulled Lexie towards the lake. “Ok, ok, don’t be scared” Percy said. “I’m gonna be teaching you, that means you won’t drown.” For some reason he was really excited.

Lexie’s body tensed up. She has never been swimming before. Percy picked up Lexie and placed her in a canoe, which was rather easy since she was so tiny. Percy himself got on a canoe and showed Lexie the basics. Soon enough she was rowing. However, she was only going in circles. Campers started to laugh. A few of them got closer to her canoe and set off waves with their ores. She started to panic. One camper’s ore knocked out the one she was holding and caused it to float around in the lake. Lexie tried to reach it. With her canoe leaning, she quickly lost balance and head straight towards the water.

“Lexie!!!” Percy screamed. He quickly dived after her. She was struggling to get to the top, which only made her sink fast. That was the first time Percy saw the entirety of her face. He realized there were scars up to her neck. Percy grabbed her and pulled her to shore. She began to cry.

“I’m so sorry Lexie,” Percy sighed sadly as Lexie was wiping her tears. He patted her head. “C’mon, let’s get you a dry.”

12:30 – LUNCH

Everyone gatherer for lunch. Lexie doesn’t have a table. This made her really sad. With the near death experience, being with people is the last thing she wanted to do and now she was just standing awkwardly while everyone was eating. She got out of the mess hall and let out a huge sigh. She wanted to climb high above, it made her calm. She climbed up the roof.

After a few minutes, someone got a ladder and climbed up. It was Rachel.

“How’s your day so far?” She asked finally reaching the top.

Lexie wanted to hug her all of a sudden but Rachel hugged her first. The Oracle gave her a cup.

“Go on,” she said. “You can drink any liquid from that cup. Whatcha want?”

Lexie held the goblet in her hand. Soon enough fire was coming out of it, liquid fire.

“Ok, but most of us prefer diet coke.” Rachel commented. “I also got you this.” She handed a blueberry muffin to Lexie. “Go on, try it!”

Lexie loved the muffin, and the water from the River Phlegnon made her miss home.

“Thank you” She smiled at Rachel.
