The Daughter of Death

A Day in the Life of a Demigod (part 2)

1:30 –Climbing the Wall (Activity)
Lexie felt great after lunch. Rachel accompanied her to the wall where her next activity would take place. Seeing the dangerous structure, she quickly fell in love.

“Most campers have a hard time with this” Rachel shared. “I don’t know why you chose this as your next activity.”

Lexie gave Rachel a huge grin. “Wait” she smiled

Of course, new campers would be given a harness to hold on to on their first try, since lava came gushing down the wall. Lexie wouldn’t have that. She leaped towards the nearest rock she could get her hands on. In 20 seconds she was already half way there. She threw herself here and there, dodging campers, lava, and honestly, anything that was on her way. Rachel just stood there amazed. In a minute she reached the top, grinning at Rachel with a victorious smile. She jumped off the structure, grabbing rocks when she went to fast. Upon reaching the ground she hugged Rachel.

“I was flying!” She said happily.

Lexie completed here activities so fast that there was still time to spare before her next itinerary. The two sat near the strawberry fields telling stories.

“Mother said don’t go out” Lexie shared staring at her feet. “Lexie must hide.”

“Hide from what?” Rachel asked.

“Hide from death.” Lexie answered.

“What does that mean?” Rachel said amazed.

Lexie shifted her feet. “Don’t know.” She muttered.

Rachel wanted to answer back when she saw Piper running towards them.

“Hi!” Piper said happily. Lexie quickly caught the magnificence of her eyes. She stared at their changing colors. Piper laughed. “You’re not the first one to stare at me like that. So, you’re the newest camper, welcome to Camp Half Blood!”

“The girl last time.” Lexie smiled.

“Yup, Piper, Daughter of Aphrodite.” Piper smiled. “So, how’s camp so far?”

“Fun!” Lexie smiled.

3:30 –Cutting Wood for Bonfire (Chores)
Piper and Lexie waved goodbye to Rachel. They were on their way to meet Leo to set things up for the bonfire this evening.

“You’re gonna love Leo.” Piper said excited.

When they got to the clearing, Leo was already cutting wood. He seems pissed. The axe was smoking. Piper ran towards him.

“What’s wrong?” She worried. “Another dysfunctional invention?”

Leo nodded.

“C’mon hot stuff don’t be like that. We’ve got company.” Piper put her arm around Leo’s shoulders and signaled Lexie to come closer. “Meet Leo, Son of Hephaestus”

Without thinking Leo reached out to give Lexie a shake, which she gladly accepted. Suddenly, Leo’s arm burst into flames. Lexie quickly pulled back her hand. Piper screamed. Leo felt so guilty he kept apologizing. Lexie’s arm was bleeding. It was burnt in several places. Lexie ripped her camp uniform and use the cloth to cover the wound.

“All fine.” She said to the two panicking demigods.

Her belly was showing, revealing dozens of healed cuts and a few burns.

“No, no, you need nectar, and ambrosia!” Leo screamed.

“Lexie ate fire water.” The girl replied blankly.

“Fire water?” Piper cried.

“After train, mother takes Lexie to Fire River. Lexie drinks, wounds gone.” She explained.

“Ok, time out.” Leo said. “We need an adult.”

The three demigods went to find Annabeth. They told her everything. Lexie felt that she wasn’t supposed to be here.

“Wait, wait,” Annabeth cried. “You’re mom’s not mortal?”

Lexie let out a whimper. “Mother is old, very, very old.”

“Leo, Piper, call the counselors. I’m holding a meeting.”

5 pm –Free time
Lexie was all alone. She roamed around a few places at camp. Spied on a few people and practiced talking like they did. She climbed up the roof of the big house, waiting for people to come out. Sadly, even Rachel was called to the meeting so she doesn’t have anyone to talk to. Yet, she was used to it, being alone.

It was already dinner time when the meeting ended. Lexie didn’t feel like eating. She just stayed there on the roof of the big house. She saw an unarmed combat between the Ares campers during competition time, and she witnessed the joy of the campfire and listened to the songs from afar.

“How long are you planning to stay here,” a voice said.

“Lexie is not wanted.” She replied without turning.

“Who’s your mother?” The person asked.

“Mother never say her name” Lexie replied.

The other person let out a sight. He sat beside Lexie. “You know, every demigod has a fatal flaw. If they fall to this, they would lose sight of who they really are.”

“Mother said no room for flaw.” Lexie answered.

“Have you ever considered that she might be wrong?”

Lexie stared at the darkness where the voice was coming from. “C’mon” he said “Let’s go down.”

Lexie followed the boy until they reach the campfire.

“Lexie!!” Percy screamed “and Nico! About time you guys”. Everyone sat closer to them and sang together, teaching Lexie the lyrics. That night the fire flared brighter.

12:00 –Passed Curfew
A small figure was running through the camp, it got to Thalia’s tree and raced towards the woods. It reached an abandoned building at the edge of town. It went inside. The place was pitch black. Suddenly, there was light coming from a small fire. A person stood over it. She threw a note into the fire. Dark smoke rose from its ashes.

“An offering to the dark goddess.” She spoke.

The room grew darker, colder, and scarier.

“You did well.” A creeping voice laughed as the wind spread its sound. “Part 2 is complete.”
