The Daughter of Death

2 months after

Lexie woke up from one of the high beams of the Mess Hall. By now, campers are already used to seeing her sleep all around camp, out of reach from anyone who would dare disturb her.

She rarely did combat practice, just chores, cleaning, and studying. Her interaction with people had improved, and anytime people needed her, they would just tell Nico. Nico had this special sense of tracking her down. One time he found her asleep on top of Thalia's tree which sent monsters knocking down the camp's door. The funny thing is that the vibrations made her fall off the tree and she defeated the monsters in rage before any campers could reach the site.

Today, however, she fell asleep in the Mess Hall, and Leo is poking her with a broom.

"Ok, spiderman, wake up. We need to clean up"

Lexie's head is a little shaken up. She hung from one or the breams.

"You smell like smoke" she stared blankly at him.

"Its because I'm so hot" Leo smiled energetically.

Loe swept while Lexie mopped.

"You know Calypso has been dying to talk to you lately, is this like a pretty girl thing now?"

"Well, Drew isn't invited so its not gonna be a club anytime soon."

"Look at you all grown up and completing your sentences."

"Annabeth's good" Lexie said slightly smiling.

"Anyway, Sunshine's in the bunker if you wanna talk"

"The bunker?"

"Oh yeah, you've never been to the bunker!"

Campers start entering the Mess Hall. Lexie spotted Annabeth and asked her a day off which she gladly gave. After breakfast, Leo accompanied Lexie to bunker 9.

"Lexie!!" Calypso screamed as she gave the tiny girl a hug. She yanked her arm and the two headed outside the bunker.

"You girls have fun!" Leo called.

"So, whadya wanna talk about?"

"It's going to be a year now," Calypso started. "since Leo and I met."

"It must be nice to have someone." Lexie said sentimentally.

Calypso admired the beach through the row of trees. "You know, a part of me always thought it was Percy. I always expected that I'd end up with someone like him, you know?"

"Wait, you like Percy??"

"He was on my island, its not like he wasn't attractive" Calypso laughed. "But then he had to leave. I knew he wanted to leave right away, and it just broke my heart, you know. I thought I could talk him into staying, offer the world to him. But when he looked at me, I knew what he saw." She looked at the confused girl. "He saw a jewel that needed to be protected. A prisoner that has no one to share heaven."

"What happened next?"

"He left. He fought his battles, eventually he won. And I was left like an after thought. A possibility that could be if he wasn't as brave."

Lexie shifted her feet, she had no idea what this feels like.

"But then, when I was almost over Percy Jackson, this scrawny little burnt kid came shooting from the sky and destroyed my beach table. He's just everything a hero wasn't" Calypso let out an endearing smile. "But he was everything I was looking for. I didn't offer him to stay, he offered me a way out. He offered me a life, he offered me the world."

"It must be nice," Lexie thought out loud. "You know, if Percy stayed you wouldn't have met Leo, or left the island."

"Come to think of it, you're right." Calypso took a small piece of paper out of her pocket. "I need a pen" She thought out load. She looked around. She crushed some berried and picked up a bird's feather. She arranged the tip, and dipped them in berry juice.

"Ok here, take this to Percy," Calypso instructed suddenly. "But be careful, no one should see it. I don't want to spread rumors. Just make sure he reads it then take it back hide it somewhere or something."

"No problem." Lexie smiled.
