Priceless
David Banner, part two.
From that day on, David knew what he wanted.
Piper. That was her name. No other name sounded as beautiful to him as that.
It was a name that meant so much.
When her relationship with that boy - Jason - was confirmed, he swore that somehow he would finally fix the hole that was tearing him apart...the hole that had gotten bigger after he saw her the first time.
Somehow he was going to get Piper. Somehow...
After they had returned from their quest, he was saddened that her and Jason had only grown stronger together.
A week later he made his move.
It was dinner at the pavilion, and he was alone at the Selene table, as always, but this time he had a restored sense of loneliness from watching Piper.
She was talking with the Aphrodite children, poking jokes at Leo from the Heaphestus table, who teasingly returned them. Jason didn't appear to be at the Zeus table. Chiron had wanted to speak with him.
He ate as fast as he could, then walked casually to the trash can with his dishware.
On his way back, he listened intently on the Aphrodite cabin, and heard the perfect time to butt in.
"And then she said...Who did you kiss?" Some Aphrodite girl held out for the punchline. David knew this one. If you even knew the Aphrodite kids, much less talked to them, you knew this joke. Possibly the most annoying joke ever. David wanted to get Pipers attention, so he punched it.
"Benidect Cumberbatch." He said out loud as he passed. The Aphrodite girls all squealed. Once he sat back down, he glanced at Piper.
She was trying to hold in a laugh.
Suddenly he realized what a dumb idea it was, and probably looked like a human tomato.
Thats when he left.
But not before bumping into Nina.
Nina, the daughter of Aphrodite, had left after David had exited the building, and stopped him on the path.
She wasnt exactly what you would expect, but she was sweet.
Her red hair tumbled over her shoulders, and her face and shoulders were all freckles.
"Don't tell me I saw nothing. No dude or dudette likes that joke. Now...why did you do it, exactly?" She raised an eyebrow.
David hated when this happened, but somehow he had to speak.
"Promise on the river styx." He put his hands into his pockets, feeling tremendously akward.
"Of course I do, now spill."
David said everything.
