Children of the Gods

Percy braced his legs straddling Mrs. O' Leary's furry back. He reached his well muscled arms down to help Dean and I. I lifted my arms awkwardly to grasp his. I jumped, putting force into my jump. Percy pulled, his arms straining to pull me up. I used a few of Mrs. O' Leary's ribs as foot holds and got up without error and swung my right leg over her spine to get a good grip. As soon as I was situated both Percy and I reached down again to help Dean. We pulled him up with ease being two people and the fact that Dean is quite lithe helped a bit. He grabbed my shoulders digging in his nails a little (it didn't hurt though) and steadied himself on the huge hell hound. I glanced over at the chariot to see how things were going. Everything seemed to be going fine, it looked like they could take off any minute. Annabeth was just messing with the reins, them swinging to and fro. The pegasi were getting antsy though, they wanted to leave or, at least get off the ground. They were stamping their hooves nervously, neighing and whinnying, and gently flittering their wings making the reins swing even more. Amara and Lyle were talking in the back of the chariot obviously having some sort of a heated discussion waving their arms around and giving each other excited looks.
After a few seconds Annabeth turned in our direction and mouthed something probably like 'ready to go?' But in my mind it read along the lines of 'like the Congo?' She obviously didn't say that but it would have made for a much more interesting conversation. Also I really should learn to mouth read better.
Percy yelled, "YES!" Annabeth seeming to be completely done with his crap, rolled her eyes, and flashed the reins, pegasi neighing with excitement. Amara and Lyle clasped the sides of the chariot tightly. I wondered if Lyle had even ridden the thing before. He was pretty nervous but clearly would rather fly than ride Mrs. O' Leary. The wheels slowly started to turn making crunching noises you hear when wheel meets road, the pegasi beginning to pull. They rose off the pavement, gaining speed and getting higher, the pegasi flapping their wings gracefully. We watched it fly away at a ridiculous speed, watching until it was a small spot in the distance.
Percy turned around in the direction of Dean and I. Which would be somewhat harder on the back of a huge dog. "Hey, where do you live?" Percy asked Dean.
"Uh, a few streets over on Rolling Hills Dr. there's a dead end, my house is the middle house with the massive rose bushes." He replied.
I hadn't been to his house in a while but from what I remembered it was a mid-century modern style house with bright green walls and support beams in some areas and his father was the head of a gardening corporation and always kept the yard in top shape along with some crops they had in the back (they grew their own vegetables). They also had some amazing shrubs not really cut in the shape of animals but more grown in the shape of animals. I was never sure how they were able to do that.
"So it's pretty close than?" Percy wondered.
"Yeah." Dean agreed.
"We don't have to shadow travel yet than." He mused. "At least Mrs. O' Leary can rest her energy before we leave for New York. Percy whispered in her ear telling the hellhound where to go.
Mrs. O' Leary stuck out her huge tongue and tried to lick Percy. Percy not wanting to get slobber all over himself, dodged the tongue coming at him.
"Hey!" Percy complained to the hellhound. Dean and I were dying of laughter. We almost fell off the hellhound. The hellhound looked at Percy like she was asking him "ready to go?" Percy nodded. The hellhound bounded down the street. Scraping the asphalt, leaving my house in the distance. After a few short seconds the house faded into memory.

Hey, I got a new chapter done. I had a lot of time so I decided to spend it doing this. Also, thank you again for the views and support for the story. Another chapter probably won't be posted for a while, maybe two or three weeks. I may write sooner though.
