Recruiting Me Wasn't Easy

Recruiting Me Wasn't Easy

I wake up some time later and notice that I am no longer in a van or the toilets at Hobbiton. I wipe the sleep from my eyes and sit up. I instantly scan my surroundings, looking for an escape. To my surprise, I’m in a large white sunroom with all the doors open and a couple of empty lazy boy recliners. The marble floors shine like pearls under the sun and I feel a bit sick.

Why they don’t think I’m going to run away is beyond me. I leap out of the seat like a crazed maniac and head for the glass sliding doors. I push it open and run out, straight into a pool. A large, cold, deep and kidney shaped pool. Face first. So much for a quiet escape. I shiver and clamber out of the pool. Still shivering I make my way to the closest gate. Then I see my scenery. The White House. THE FREAKING WHITE HOUSE! Last time I remember I was in Hobbiton in NEW ZEALAND! Now somehow I've ended up In Washington DC!

Oh god now I'm freaking out. But seriously who wouldn't be? I was kidnapped in New Zealand and I wake up in Washington. Ok this is beyond crazy. This is like reality TV crazy, and shit gets crazy on those shows believe me. Standing on the edge of the pool I can see about three people dressed in black heading towards the house I'm currently a prisoner in. They look big, tough and warrior-like. In other words they look scary.

And here I am a helpless 17 year old New Zealand girl who has been kidnapped and is now soaking wet on the edge of a pool in Washington. Can this day seriously get any worse?

Yes it can. I hear the annoying little voice scream in my head and I mentally tell it to shut up. But sadly the little voice is right because the warrior people are closing in and I have nowhere to go. I look back to the house and realize that there might be another way out. I take no time to gather my wits and leap into a run beelining the house. Once inside I lock the door so the warrior people can't follow me.

I spin around and see that there is three other doors, all shut and all about five meters away from me. One is small and pure oak, another in a painted baby blue and the last one is larger than the other two and is made of some type of dark, heavy looking wood. I hear banging on the glass behind me and realize that the warrior people have caught up.

Frantically I race to the largest door and try to pull it open. With no luck I sigh and try again. I really need to start thinking before I act because I knew this door looked heavy but still I chose it to go through. I really am the idiot that Emily always calls me. But as stupid as I am there is no time to try the next door as the warrior people have just smashed in the glass door. With one final tug on the handle the door swings open in a crack just small enough for me to slip through.

I find myself in a large old and dusty library. Books are stacked sky on high shelves towering over me. My dark hair falls into my eyes and I struggle to pin it back and take in all the sights at the same time. In the corner of the room is stairs leading up to another room with a similar door. I race to that and see the warrior people have just opened the door with no effort at all. Damn. I get to the stairs and start to climb wishing that I had taken cross country more seriously sure i’m a swimmer and a cheerleader but that doesn't make me a runner! These warrior people have actually been trained judging on how they just managed to run the length of the library in about three seconds flat. I open the door with much more ease than the first one. I think it was because of all the adrenaline running through my body at that given time. Inside the room I see nothing but a desk with a wheelie chair behind it and a stapler and a hole puncher on top of it. There’s also a window behind the desk where outside I can see tall skyscrapers and that dreaded White House.

Now i've cornered myself, great work Hope. I think sarcastically to myself. Well I might as well make the best of my situation. I grab the wheelie chair and plonk my butt down at the desk and wait for the intruders. Only a few seconds later they push the door down and stop right in their tracks. I just sit there with a smug look on my face and the warrior dudes look to each other and I see them forming a plan in their heads. Not on my watch. Ha jokes they will probably capture me again in about a second. The taller one of the three makes the first move and lunges over the desk at me. I push the wheelie chair backwards so he can't reach me but the two from either side come at me from the side. Great they've watched Jurassic Park and know about how Raptors attack. Well I am a cheerleader that must count for something. I leap out of the chair and onto the ground right before the desk and pick up the stapler. I open it up and push the button that fires staples. The staple hits the taller guy in the face and it temporarily confuses him. I think he finds it quite funny too though. The guy on my left makes a grab at my waist and I do a high kick to his head. He obviously didn’t expect that because he looks quite stunned and laughs a little before falling to the ground.

One down, Two to go!

The guy on the right grabs my wrists and tries to pull me towards him but I grab his wrists too and flip him over his legs smashed into the window and the glass inside shattered from the weight of him. My arms burn and I can't move them. Damn that guy was heavy! I let go of him and the he falls to the ground. Then the taller guy I shot with the stapler comes up behind me with a gun and holds it at my neck. I instantly drop everything and hold my arms above my head showing defeat. I sigh and he holds this chloroform stuff to my face and catches me as I fall to the ground.
