The Dark Thief

Lunch

I stood back as a brown-haired boy, about 19 years old, flirted with me. I mean, I know I'm tall, but I didn't know I was tall enough to be mistaken as someone of his age. "Um, excuse me, but I'm trying to get to the cabin, so, please, leave me alone," I pleaded. Even though I don't like begging, it comes in handy sometimes. He smiled, obviously swooned, as he let me walke by. If this was going to be what I was dealing with, boys older than me trying to win me over, then I did NOT like it.

I saw posters of different people, some including themselves, and wondered who would be my godly parent. Would I even get claimed? Even though Chiron had told us that some "Perseus Jackson" dude had made a deal with the gods that their children should be claimed by 13, well, I'm 15 and I haven't been claimed yet. This, of course, brought on the question of, was I even a demigod? But, I'm sure Chiron would have some sort of an objection to that, too.

I sighed as the question elbowed, wait, do questions have elbows? Anyway, I sighed as the question dug it's way into my brain. Then, someone gave me a small push from behind and I stumbled forward a bit. "Hey, clumsy," said a familiar voice. I turned around and saw Addiline had shoved me. I gave her a half-smile as her blue hair fell in front of her face. She let off a small snort as she moved the hair back in place. She looked back at me and rolled her eyes. "It happens all of the time," she laughed. Her laugh was really quiet, but quite infectious, even though she never laughed when Lyssa, Ollie, and I weren't there.
"So, what's up with Lyssa?" I whispered.

"She's found herself some friends," she frowned. "Nice," I replied. Lyssa really could reel in the boys with her bright emerald eyes and matching light green hair. She always smelled like flowers, no matter how long she went without bathing. I thought back to when we all met, when they dragged me into the orphanage, insisting that I stole something while I was alone, meaning I was probably and orphan. I remember two sets of eyes, one extremely dark brown, and the other seemed to change colours. They told me that this was the troublemaker table. I frowned at them. They just stared at me as I tried to make small talk, still cradling the stolen iPhone in my hand. I remember a girl with brilliant green eyes coming over to sit with us. She introduced herself as Lyssa.
I hated that orphanage, giving us no privelages what-so-ever. I treasures it at the same time, otherwards, we wouldn't have all met each other. The girls at the orphanage were really rude, while the boys were just downright mean. I mean, you don't lock someone in a bathroom yelling "Potty face!" Sadly, that comes with getting so many swirlies.
I came out of my daydream, well, day-mare, and looked back at Addie. Of course, she asked me if I was "normal", our term for not okay. I smiled, fascinated at the fact that she still remembered our old special language. Addie just waved her hand in front of my face and said, "Earth to Nixie, helllooo?" I shook my head, indicating I was listening now. She facepalmed. "Aaaanyways, someo-" she started, but she was interrupted by a bell. "Dinner Time!" someone yelled. So, we all stormed out of the cabin and a building that read, "Dining Pavilion" Seemed friendly enough, so I went right in.
As I walked in, I saw Ollie on the other side of the pavilion and waved at her. Sadly, she didn't see and people just looked at me like I was crazy. Dang, I thought, now I look crazy. The pavilion was flooded with orange shirts. Some people had jackets or hoodies over their t-shirts, other just wore them plain. My eyes came across someone who looked a lot like Addie. I ignored him because it was probably just a coincidence.

Addie elbowed me, and told me to pay attention because the line was moving. "Yes, master," I said sarcastically. She growled at that. I smiled and kept looking around the crowd. Then Addie pushed me forward and I ran into a boy about my age. "Uh, sorry," I stuttered, absentmindedly tucking hair behind my ear. The boy had brown eyes and dark blonde hair. "It's fine," he said. I backed away and went back to Addie.

Addie was smiling at me with her hands on her hips. "He's kind of cute," she said, "Get his name?" I shook my head "no" She smiled at me. "You like him, don't you?" she asked me. "Uh, no!" I exclaimed. Though, he was kind of cute. He had scruffy black hair and brilliant, stormy gray eyes. He looked too good to be true. I must've been staring because Addie elbowed me, again. So, we slowly walked towards the lunch tables.

I sat down at the Hermes table, right by Addie and Lyssa, who had disappeared for a few hours. Addie's eyes were hooked on her Chicken Lo Mein, which was already half gone. Lyssa was talking nonsense about different types of plants, and I was watching everyone in the pavilion, making sure it was safe. No signs of needed fear. So, I continued eating. Suddenly, a black glow came from the left of me. I turned around to see a black skull floating over Addie's head. I heard gasps coming from the crowd. Someone yelled, "A DAUGHTER OF HADES!!" The boy that looked like Addie was watching the black skull with fascination. I saw Chiron cantering over. "Oh, no," he whipered, "Welcome the new Daughter of Hades, Addiline Jett!" People sarcastically clapped. The boy that looked like Addie came over and held his hand out. Addie hesitantly took his hand and he said, "Nico di Angelo. Welcome to the Hades' kid world, sister." Addie's mouth opened slightly as he said sister.

Notes

So, we meet again, eh?

So, now Addiline has been determined as a daughter of Hades. Obviously, though she hasn't been claimed, Lyssa is going to join the Demeter cabin. What about Nixie? Stay tuned to find out more about Nixie. Bye! :D

Hi, author here saying that if you think I update too much, then here's the explanation. I have nothing to do all day because my friends don't usually hang out with me and I basically sit in my room all day thinking or on my computer. I will update a lot because I know that if I plan ahead too much I will end up rushing my story, so yeah. I also am on this website A LOT. No joke. I am at my grandparents house which is far from my house and I will be here for a couple weeks still. I might have 3 chapters in one day!
