If Looks Could Kill

The First Cursed Child

The young man sits on his horse, staring out towards the plain open desert. The hot sun is beating down on his back and the horse whinnies in discomfort. The young man has his weapons lined upon his body but he knows he doesn't need them. He has to escape. He knows he can't escape, but he has to try. A low thunder rumbles on in the distance and the young man quickly whips his horse into action. Together they race across the sand, flinging dirt around. They travel for three days only slowing for food and water. The young man had heard of a safe place. A place where he can hide from the gods. The gods who want to rid of him.

They say he's dangerous. He knows he's dangerous. They say there's nowhere you can hide from the gods. He knows there's nowhere to hide from the gods. They say he can try. He knows he can try.

He never meant to kill one of them. He never meant to kill anyone. It kinda just happened. His mother-- Aphrodite-- she tried to save him from Zeus’ wrath but he wouldn't have a bar of it. The young man, he fell for Zeus’s daughter, Persephone. It's not his fault she was cheating on Hades. It's not his fault they fell in love. It's not his fault he was cursed. His emotions grew wild and it happened so quickly. Now the Olympians want him dead.

A strike of thunder comes bursting down in front of him, Zeus, his horse jumps into the air causing him to fall off. The horse bolts leaving the young man to fend for himself. Panic Sears through him as he frantically looks around for signs of the gods wanting to kill him. Somehow in the middle of the desert, a pond of water appears near him, Poseidon. The young man draws his bow and twists and turns at strange, spine-breaking angles, The sun somehow shines through the storm, Apollo. An arrow connects with his shoulder in an attempt to slow him but not kill him, Artemis. The ground breaks open with terrifying cracks and jolts a smell arises and is followed by the decaying bodies of hell, Hades. A swarm of owls and other godly birds attack. The young man tries to focus on his anger and use it to win this fight but with so much fear and other emotions running through him, he can't.

The young man must rely on his weapons. He’ll never surrender. He draws his sword and begins to fight. He slashes and jab over and over again at countless birds, monsters and skeletons. Sweat heavily drips down his face and torso, pain burns through his muscles and blood drips across him. He's fighting purely for his life at the moment.

Just when he thinks that he has the upperhand, the gods arrive. The gods are angry and it's vivid in their faces. The man doesn't stop fighting. The god, Zeus grabs him by the collar and makes him look into his face. “If you think you can be on our level, if you think you can get away with killing one of our own. Then you have got another thing coming.” Zeus snarls at the young man.

Then he snaps his neck.
