It felt like an odd day, perhaps it was the temperature, or maybe the day was to actually turn out odd. Either way it seemed I was the only one who felt that.


Anyways it was a normal day at Camp Half-Blood, no matter how odd it felt. It was the feeling of doom you get when you are in a locked room and you know there is no way out, or in for the matter but you feel like there is an unwanted presence there. As I walked to Will's cabin the feeling got worse. As soon as I had gotten into the door I could already start to piece together why.

Will was talking to a girl about his age, which was of course normal, but she was in full Greek battle armor. Although still not very different from every day (except they were in the cabin) as I got closer to her it felt to me like I had overused shadow traveling again.

I was right next to them now as I looked her in the face her striking resemblance to my mother and Bianca left me completely spaced out for a minute or two. When Will put his hand on my shoulder I was pulled back to reality. That's when she asked,"Is something wrong?"

I shook my head, but I actually wanted to scream at her until my throat hurt because no one should ever remind me that they are gone. She smiled but it was not happy, you could see in her eyes she was lost and stumbling.

"I'm going to be at Camp Half-Blood for a while and I figured I should go meet the cabin leaders."

Will looked at my blank face and said,"You paid no attention to what we were saying before that did you?" My cheeks flushed. He sighed and said,"This is Thana, she is the daughter of Poseidon and Angelos."

She added,"I'm here on a whim but I'm going to be here for at least 5 months. I probably shouldn't have worn this though but I haven't been here for probably a few hundred years and I have absolutely no idea how things work anymore."

Will replied,"No offense but you seem about as nervous as one of the new campers." She smiled and said,"Well I've got to go find Percy, see you guys later."

Will turned to me suddenly looking concerned,"Are you actually okay?" I shrugged,"She just looked so much like Bianca did except she has sea green eyes." Will looked like he felt worse for me than I did for myself.

"We should go find Hazel, I haven't seen her in a while and her and Frank are visiting." Will nodded. We walked to the arena where people were watching Thana swordfight with the people brave enough to challenge her. We walked over to Frank and Hazel who were arguing whether Frank should try to beat her or not. Will said,"Everyone knows she's more than a few hundred years old she will have had more experience than all of us combined." Frank nodded.

That is when I got a very stupid idea in my head. "Frank if you challenge her I will." Hazel and Will looked at me like I was insane, and of course Frank nodded. We got into the unofficial line of people who were going to try to beat her. She disarmed her opponent in a single smooth stroke.

It was like in the line onto a rollercoaster one of your friends got you to get in, the closer to the rollercoaster the more freaked out you get. It was Frank's turn and he was down in under forty seconds, so in reality I wouldn't last longer than 20 seconds.

I walked out and pulled my sword that because of habit was still always at my side. She said,"Swing when you are ready." I went for her knees and she responded by going for mine. We started to try to disarm each other neither of us able to. She figured she couldn't outwit me (although I was certain she could) so she went for brute force. She was obviously trying to make the fight fair and didn't use the godly strength she almost certainly had.

While I was trying to not to be disarmed by brute force I didn't notice she had started to move slightly to the left and before I realized what she was doing there was that awful jerking feeling in your hand you get when you are disarmed and my sword clattered to the floor.

She then announced that she was done sword fighting for the day and walked back with me and Frank to Hazel and Will. I introduced her to Hazel and Frank and my sister pointed out the one thing I was trying to avoid. "It's odd, you and Nico look So much alike."

She shrugged,"Well his mother was my sister." I gaped, just gaped because I didn't want to think that my mother was as lost, stuck between worlds as all demigods. I didn't want my mother to be a monster fighting hero, I wanted her to be the kind, gentle, compassionate person I remembered.

I woke up in the infirmary confused and not remembering falling asleep or why I was in the infirmary. Will was standing at the foot of my bed. I sat up and said,"I'm going to go find Thana." He looked unsure of what to say, something that was unusual for Will, but he didn't stop me from leaving.
