Inexperienced

Nerves and fire

After Aloisyus had showed me the entire camp, from the strawberry fields to the armory to the cabins to the amphitheatre, I was exhausted. It had been a very long, very weird day, and it still was too much to take in.
But, despite my tiredness, I was wide awake. Though it scared the hell out of me, I was exited and, admittedly, very nervous about the campfire. Tonight, I would know which of my parents was not my real parent, and perhaps, which kind of godly powers I would come to posess, if any.

As Aloisyus led me to the campfire pit, I saw that quite a lot of people were already sitting on benches or on the ground around it, some of them singing songs. The flames of the campfire were a strange yellow-ish golden colour, and the flames rose quite high.

I sat down on the second row, careful to keep my distance of the flames and the sparks flying off them. I'd never really liked fire, and when I was younger, I was afraid of it.

'So, have any idea who you're godly parent might be?', Aloisyus said as he sat down next to me.
'Um, no not really. Well... It might be Athena, because I read a lot, but I also like music and art, so maybe Apollo, but... Poseidon too, because I really like water, and perhaps Demeter because I like plants? I don't really know, actually.' He laughed. 'You sound like you're clueless.' I sighed, 'Well, yes, because I am.' I looked down at my shoes and shoved some dirt around with my foot. 'I don't like being clueless.'

When I looked up again, his smile had faded. 'Hey, it's gonna be fine. You'll notice that this place will really make you feel at home. You're not the only one who's been through all this.' I smiled at him thankfully, but my nerves were still not quite at ease. This only got worse when a slightly fat man in a leopard print shirt cleared his troat.
'Hello, I would like you're attention please, for a moment. A new camper has arrived. Her name is...' He looked around at Chiron, who had walked up behind him. I had to suppress a gasp when I saw Chiron, as he was now in full centaur-mode. I almost forgot they were talking about me.

'Anne Hudson', Chiron said softly to the other man. 'Ah, yes, Annie Husson. Would you please stand up for a moment, girl?' As I did as he said, all the heads turned around towards me, and I had to struggle to keep my knees from wobbling. 'Um, hi.' I said, while trying to find out where to look. I finally settled for a slightly smoking stick next to the firepit. When I was met with utter silence, I looked up again, to see everyone still staring at me, some with their mouths slightly askew. The next thing I noticed was that everything was tinged slightly blue, and that everyones gazes seemed directed at a point over my head. Before I could look up to see what it was about, a boy with black hair and sea green eyes stood up and smiled at me.

'You're my sister.', he said.

Thanks a lot, that means so much to me! Because this is my very first story, I'm still a bit insecure about writing. All the positive comments really encourage me, thanks to everyone for that. And it's good to know that my FCE in Cambridge English is paying off;).

I love this story; the plot line is very easy to follow. And ditto to what @Edge of Tartarus said; You have great grammar!
