Inexperienced

Water Tribe

I looked at the boy, incredulous. I then looked up to see a strange sign sort of floating above my head and I suddenly understood.

A blue-green luminescent trident.

Poseidon was my father. Part of me was relieved, because it made sense, but I was disappointed because the man who had raised me was not my real father, and my parents had never bothered to tell me. I looked at the ground again. Everyone was still staring at me. I could see the fire flickering in different colours, as if it was confused.

Suddenly the man in the leopard T-shirt cut trough the silence, and said, 'Well, that was unexpected. Annie, Peter, sit down.' Peter. Was that his name? Or did the man say everyones name wrong?

As I and the boy (Peter, whatever) sat down again, the other demigods had started to talk again, occasionally casting glances at me and the boy. Soon the volume was back to where it was.

I turned to Aloisyus. 'What was that all about?', I asked. 'You got claimed.', he replied, though with a strange tone in his voice. 'Yes, I got that, Poseidon is my father, but why was everyone staring at me?' I was still feeling a little unsteady, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I always had that when I got too much attention. For some reason, Aloisyus would look anywhere but at me.

'Well... The last time a child of Poseidon arrived at camp, it brought along a lot of trouble... You see, the big three -Zeus, Poseidon and Hades- made a pact after WWII that they would not have anymore demigod children, because they were just too powerful. Last year however, after the Second Titan War, they decided to break the pact, as it didn't work in the first place -hence Percy over there-', he nodded towards the boy who had claimed I was his sister. 'so everyone was a bit shocked to find out you were Poseidon's daughter, because you were probably concieved when the pact was still there. '

I was silent for a full minute to take that all in. 'So... Second Titan War? Did anyone write about it in a book, because I'd really like to read it then. You know, I remember things much better when I read them.', Aloisyus chuckled. 'You are actually the first demigod who I've met that reads books willingly.' Upon seeing my gaze, he quickly added, 'Most demigods are dyslexic, because their brains are programmed for Ancient Greek.' 'That's weird', I said, 'I had Ancient Greek at school, but I dropped it and chose Latin instead because I was very bad at it.' 'That is weird indeed. But come on, I'll introduce you to your brother.' He stood up and offered to pull me up. I took his hand thankfully, and went to meet my new family.

Thanks a lot, that means so much to me! Because this is my very first story, I'm still a bit insecure about writing. All the positive comments really encourage me, thanks to everyone for that. And it's good to know that my FCE in Cambridge English is paying off;).

I love this story; the plot line is very easy to follow. And ditto to what @Edge of Tartarus said; You have great grammar!
