The Life of a Titan
Pulling It Together
Here I lay, festering within the deepest pits of Tartarus. My soul in a thousand pieces, my conscience eviscerated. Or so those vile children of mine believe. They thought I would stay down, they thought they could get rid of me. But I am the Titan King. NOTHING shall stop me from ruling again.
Over the course of three thousand years, my existence slowly pulled itself together. My soul after fifteen-hundred years, my mind after one thousand, and my powers returned after five hundred. My body would likely have reformed after another five hundred, but would take yet another thousand to heal to my former glory. Unless, I received power from an outside source.
Ever since my mind reformed five hundred years ago, I have learnt about all that has happened from my bretheren wandering the pit, who in turn learned of the upper world from their respective minions. I know about every deity and hero born, every war, every mortal advancement. I know all. So, it came as no surprise to me when I learned that, my youngest son, Zeus has become even more power hungry than when we last met.
The upstart has seven of his children, his wife, and himself upon the Olympian Council. And yet, the rest of my descendants are too foolish to see the amount of power the pathetic "king" has. He can easily turn the tide of a vote in his favour with a few well placed threats.
For Artemis, it her hunters, and Apllo is extremely overprotective of his sister, so he will follow suit. Athena believes her father is always right, that her king stands for justice. Ares and Dionysus are too weak-minded to think for themselves. Hermes' weakness is May Castellan, his insane ex. For Hephaestus, it is simply the threat of crippling him more. As for Hera, if she did not side with her husband, Zeus will throw a temper tantrum, kill many a mortal, and cheat on her again. Demeter usually votes with Hera, Hades and Hestia aren't even on the council anymore, and Aphrodite will usually vote with Ares and Hephaestus, one for sex and the other for valueless trinkets.
I pity Poseidon. His powers over the Sea make him mightier than most of his fellow gods, save for Hestia due to the fact that she is my first child. Poseidon could easily overthrow Zeus, along with most of the Olympian Council. However, his skewed sense of loyalty prevents him from doing so. While Poseidon and Zeus do not get along very well, Poseidon is loyal due to the fact that Zeus saved his siblings from my bowels. Wine and mustard. A truly vile concoction.
It took many years for a few demigods to finally start thinking for themselves, and question why they worship such unjust rulers. And many more years to realize that the gods are not as powerful as the Titans.
One of the first was a young lad, just out of boyhood. A demigod son of Hermes. His name was Luke Castellan.
Notes
So after returning, and re-reading this to see where I left off, I realized I dug myself into a hole. I made it so I have to do the PJO books now :( i thought I was gonna write the whole First Titanomachy, but nope. Hindsight is a bitch.
