Percy Jackson and the Creator: The Death Game

Healing

Chapter 3

“Perseus wake up.” A voice called.
Percy groaned. His side was hurting and he was dizzy.
“Wake!” The voice commanded.
A force slammed into Percy and he shot upright.
He was in a very bright room. The walls were solid gold.
A man stood in the corner with a warm smile. He wore robes that matched the color of the room. He was in his late 20’s.
“Who…who are you? And, where am I?” Percy asked grabbing his head. It was starting to swim.
“I am Dinlas and you are in Lamara. This is a city for heroes to come and rest after they are wounded in battle.”
“How long have I been here?” Percy asked.
The man tilted his head, “You’ve been lying there unconscious for exactly 25 minutes.”
“So, what? I passed out and was brought here?” Percy asked.
“No,” The man said smiling. “You slipped into a coma and were rescued by your friends. You were brought back to Camp Half-Blood for three days and then I summoned you here. Had I not, you would have never woken up.”
Percy got onto his feet much to his sides protesting, “Wait what happened with the man I was chasing? Did he release the pathogen into the water system in New York?”
The man smiled, “That I cannot answer. I am a healer and guardian of this city. I know nothing of the man who did this to you, I just know what he did to you.”
“Which is what?” Percy asked.
“The blade pierced your side and shattered three ribs. It pierced your lungs and immediately allowed blood flow into them. Whoever patched you up did a decent job. Also, the blade was covered in poison which is what caused you to slip into a coma. Whoever patched you up missed that part.”
“How do you know that but not what the man did after that? Where can I get answers?” Percy yelled.
“I do believe,” A voice called from behind Percy. “that I can help with that.”
Percy turned and found an old man standing there.
He wore fisherman gear and a captain’s hat on his head. He had a nametag that read Glaucus.
Percy, completely taken aback by the man dumbly asked, “Uh who the Hades are you?”
The man chuckled, “My name is Glaucus and I need to have a conversation with you Percy Jackson.”

****
Glaucus had lead Percy out of the room and into the city. Everything was gold and there were tons of people dressed in armor and battle gear. Some wore ancient Greek armor, Roman armor, and even modern day military clothing.
“So, this place is strictly for warriors who get wounded in battle?” Percy inquired.
Glaucus nodded, “The bravest of the brave can come here when wounded. True warriors can only get in.”
“How long can they stay?
The old man stroked his grey beard. “Usually until they heal. Most of the time they can remain as long as they like. Many stay and die here.”
Percy nodded, “What happened with the man I was chasing?”
“After stabbing you he released the pathogen into the water system. For a time, nothing was happening, but now it’s starting to claim victims.”
Percy stopped, “What’s it doing?”
“It causes the mortals to become sensitive to you demigods. And they have an instinct to kill you all. Almost like it’s all they can think of.”
“Is there a cure?” Percy asked stepping in front of Glaucus.
Glaucus sighed. “Sadly no. If the mortal gets infected the pathogen runs its course and then they die.”
Percy stepped back. “So, you’re saying that the mortals will die if infected?”
Glaucus nodded.
“I have to go back. I need to help my friends.” Percy said grabbing Glaucus.
Suddenly hands were gripping Percy’s shoulders. It was Dinlas.
“I apologize Perseus Jackson but you are not allowed to leave yet. You are currently at 44% health. You must rest more.”
“What the hades is this? Percy yelled. "Call of Duty? I’m perfectly fine let me leave!”
Dinlas wrapped one arm around Percy’s shoulders and reached towards Percy’s forehead with the other.
“Bro I don’t know you like that!” Percy yelled.
“I do not care and this will not hurt.” Dinlas replied.
His finger touched Percy’s head and the world went black.
