Percy Jackson and the Creator: The Death Game

Overwhelmed

Zoe was fighting in front of the Empire State Building. Around her demigods were giving it all they got. The mortals were charging towards them from all directions.
The mortals held all kinds of different weapons. Some had broken off street signs and were whacking at demigods. Others used chunks of rock and bricks to pelt them.
All the mortals foamed a dark liquid at the mouth. Their eyes were pitch black.
Jason and the army of Chaos were in Olympus speaking with the Gods. They were pleading for help.
Demigod after demigod would fall. Mortal after mortal would fall.
It was a blood bath.
Suddenly Jason appeared next to Zoe.
“The Gods have sealed Olympus. We can’t expect help from them. The best we can do is retreat into the lobby and my men and I can erect a force field around the entrance. It won’t hold for too long but it can by us time to plan.”
Zoe went over the choices. Stay out here and eventually be swarmed or go inside and be safe for a little while longer before being swarmed.
She chose the latter.
“Get inside!” Zoe yelled.
The demigods who still stood all started backing up towards the doors of The Empire State Building.
Zoe and Jason stepped into the lobby.
The demigods were all sprinting towards the door.
The mortals were rushing to cut them off.
Zoe and Jason waited as long as they could for the demigods to come. Eventually they were swarmed by the mortals.
“Jason…” Zoe said. “Erect the force field.”
Jason and Jazz, a lieutenant in his army, stepped forward and raised their arms.
Black energy shot from their hands and formed a solid wall against the lobby doors.
The energy locked into place. Thuds could be heard from the other side.
Heavy breathing could be heard from all over the lobby.
Zoe turned and looked around.
In all there were 23 demigods. They had arrived with nearly 100.
When they arrived in the city they were immediately swamped. Mortals came out of alleys, from buildings, and even from above somehow.
Jason and his army had been protecting the doors to Olympus. Zoe had ordered the demigods to meet up with them.
From there they ended up in the situation they were in now.
“Jason how long can the force field hold?” Zoe asked.
“Around 20 minutes.” Jason said sighing. “After that we can’t sustain it. They will breach and get in.”
“So we have to find an escape route. What are our options?” Zoe asked.
Malcolm stepped beside her. “We can head up about 30 floors and shoot wires onto a lower building and then slide down.”
“Will that work?” Jason asked.
Malcolm nodded, “We have six Apollo archers left. They can shoot the wires down. It’s our only chance. If we stay and fight we will get slaughtered.”
They looked at Zoe. She knew it was her decision to make.
“Malcolm take the archers up. You have five minutes and then the rest of us are coming.”
Malcolm nodded and shouted at the Apollo guys and they took off for the stairs.
“So,” Jason said. “What happened to the people.”
“From what I can tell…” Zoe answered with hesitation. “They have become…zombies.”
Jason stared at her. “Zombies?”
Zoe nodded.
“Well I can kind of see why you would say that. But this isn’t that. Definitely not that. I can feel presence within them. It’s a familiar presence. Almost like-“
Jason was cut off by a rumbling coming from the force field. The field was shaking. Suddenly it cracked and effected mortals exploded into the lobby.
