He's Home

Hazel swung her sword. That was almost all she ever did, now, was swing her sword. She was sick of missing Leo, and sort of wished that he would just come back already. She felt him die. But she never sought out the feeling of someone dying and coming back.
That has to be what happened. Leo died and came back. Hazel was sure now. Leo was coming. She swung again. Usually, when she was bored (like today), she would work on her mist or on the shrines with Jason. They weren’t awake yet, though.
Hazel spun around and inspected her surroundings. She hasn’t been here long, but it already felt the way Camp Jupiter did. Like home, even if it did have it’s flaws. She put the sword back with the other training swords.
She wondered when she would get one of her own, and made her way to the dining pavilion. It was almost time for breakfast, and she saw a few kids coming this way already. She sat at the usual table and waited, not wanting to start before her friends.
She only had to wait a few minutes, and soon all her friends were at her side eating breakfast. Percy looked extra excited; he was going to his mom’s the day after tomorrow, and was finalizing the details with Chiron today.
Annabeth was going with him, and everyone was happy for them. Of course, no one really knew what to expect. If Leo did come back, everyone knew that Percy and Annabeth would change their plans.
Even so, no one could wait. Maybe it was today. Maybe it was tomorrow. Either way, Leo would be here. Hazel poked at her bacon. She put a few pieces on Frank’s plate. He didn’t notice, and kept eating.
Hazel smiled at him. She really did love him, but wanted their relationship to go a bit farther. Would it take Tartarus to give them the relationship Percy and Annabeth have? Hazel hoped not.
Hazel turned around. What was that. She squinted her eyes. She could feel a huge chunk of celestial bronze flying through the…. Oh. Hazel jumped up and pointed. 3.8 miles away, 3.6 miles away….
Everyone looked at her, and she found her voice. “LEO!!! HE’S HERE!!!! LEO IS HERE!!!” Hazel cried and rushed to the clearing, jumping up and down. Her friends followed behind, abandoning bacon and french toast and a plate of half-eaten blue eggs.
The rest of the camp quickly caught on, and the Hephaestus kids did what they do. Fireworks sprouted in the morning sky, and though the daylight sort of drowned them out, they made Leo, Festus, and Calypso look much more heroic.
The huge bronze dragon landed gracefully, and sat very still, creaking nervously. The cheering and shouting died out for a moment, and Leo realized he was suppose to make a speech. He adjusted with his usual nervousness and took a deep breath.
“TEAM LEO FOR THE WIN!” Everyone erupted into cheering again, and Hazel continued crying hysterically. Leo slid off Festus’s back and helped a pretty young girl down.
The girl had caramel hair and almond eyes. She looked at Leo with more love than Hazel remembered anyone ever looking at Leo with. That was Calypso. Despite everything, Hazel felt a small twinge of jealousy. Then she felt insanely guilty.
Piper ran forward and tackled Leo, shortly followed by the other 6 demigods. “We knew it!” Percy called. Leo looked equally as ecstatic, and all the while held onto Calypso’s hand.
Finally, people started quieting down, and Leo introduced Calypso. He held his hand up a bit, and walked her a few steps forward. “This, is the legendary, the magnificent: Calypso.” Calypso smiled a little self consciously. Once again, the demigods erupted. The Hephaestus kids were especially loud, calling things like, “OOOH, LEO FINALLY GOT A GIIIRRLFRIEND,” and “WHOOP! IF LEO CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN!!!”
It must have taken at least an hour, but demigods started calming down and going back to their usual business. When finally the Haephestus kids left, the group of eight walked out to the woods, where they could all talk with a bit of privacy.
They all eight sat in a circle. It was funny, Hazel thought, four groups of couples. Leo grinned his usual slightly unsettling grin, and Calypso girl looked a little flustered. Everyone sat for a moment, and listened to the whole ordeal from Leo and sometimes Calypso.
Once they finished, Hazel notices Percy widen his eyes, turn bright red, then pale. He remembered something, apparently. Percy glanced at Annabeth, who was still smiling brightly and hadn’t noticed a thing.
Percy realized he wouldn’t get her attention, so he bit his lip and looked down. Hazel thought this was very out of character. Why would Percy act like that? What did he remember? Leo and the group kept talking, and in no time, lunch was ready.
