Elysium

Isles of the Blest

Going into Elysium you are told nothing of Isle of the Blest besides the fact that you can try for rebirth to get there. You are not told if you've been reborn before, you are not told if you screwed up in a past life, you only know if you're going to the Isles of the Blest if it were your last death in your three tries of rebirth. Beckendorf waited outside the gates and watched as people continued on, walking further and further into Elysium until they were only dots on the horizon, or watched them disappear and go to the Isles. He waited outside the gates for Silena, waiting for her to die and hoping she lived for a long time. He hoped that she lived until she were old and had fallen in love with someone else.

This was not the case.

She came to him just a few days later and sprinted towards him, crying horribly. If it weren't for the fact that everyone thought she was a hero, even if she wasn't, she would've been sent to the Fields of Punishment. Silena was filled with horror at the thought, but she also saw it fit. She constantly thought of how she killed Charlie, every moment since she had found out, every time she saw Percy, and especially when The Battle of Manhattan started, she had killed Charlie and was responsible for the death of so many more campers.

She knew fighting the Drakon, Clarrise's kill, meant death. Silena wouldn't have to live with the pain any longer and that's all that mattered. With her gone, Percy could win the war without a spy ruining everything, she would save lives, and that was a great way to go out in her eyes. She didn't realize that she had died a hero’s death; Just like how she didn't know that they all forgave her. Each Camper understood why she did it, and why she couldn't stop it, and she loved them all for it.

Most of all, Charlie forgave her. He forgave her when she cried to him at the gates of Elysium and told him what happened. She killed her boyfriend, she had killed him when he trusted her, when everyone did really, and he forgave her. He didn't care; He just held her, for hours, for days because time didn't matter in the Underworld; He could have held on to her forever. Everyone was happy, on Earth among the living, and the Heroes of Camp Half-Blood, all of those who died because of the Titan's, were happy. Finally.

He held her, and she cried tears of happiness while he was weeping tears of regret; The tears of someone who had to say goodbye.

When heroes came into Elysium, by the gates, they saw a beautiful young woman who had regrets she felt that she could let go of and a ruggedly handsome young man who knew everything he had to lose.

Before she could offer to finally walk in the gates, Beckendorf tilted Silena's chin and looked her in the eyes. She could see the pain, the trembling lips, she could see the tears that drowned his brown eyes and made them black. He kissed her, a kiss full of passion, and then spoke. His already deep voice lower,

"I'm going to the Isles of the Blest."

"No." She replied immediately. "No, no, no."

"Silena-"

"NO, we- we were going to be happy again. Happy forever, Charlie please."

"I'm so sorry." He wiped her tears before they could reach the cheeks that had just dried. "I'm so sorry."

"Can't you just refuse?" She sobbed, and threw herself into his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair as she sobbed the sobs of a broken person. She had never cried with so much horror before and he had never heard such horrible sounds before. Beckendorf could feel his heart shattering to a thousand pieces as she cried into his chest.

He gripped her shoulders and looked down at her, "No, I can't." He let out a cry of defeat, before speaking again. "I can choose who I am when I go to Isles of the Blest, and I'm choosing to be Charles Beckendorf so I never forget you."

He tucked her hair behind her ear, and opened to his mouth to continue. Before he could, she stood on her toes and kissed him.

"I'm going to try for rebirth, then." She seemed confident, and before his eyes her face cleared up, and she became determined Silena again.

"Silena-"

"No, if I can choose, I'll choose you. I don't care if I fall in love in my next life time, or if I loved anyone in my past life. I will choose you. I will always choose you."

"Silena, you can't be sure that-"

"I know that I can't be sure that I'll die a heroes death and get to chose Rebirth but I have to try again. I have to try, just so I can be with you."

"No, Silena please."

"Wait for me.Wait for me, please. I lost you once and had to live with that memory and I have a chance to have you back. I'm going to take it, I chose you." They stood there staring into each others eyes tears rolling down their faces, taking in each others faces for what seemed to be the last time, time for him ticking.

There was no stopping her, he realized. He looked down at her, heart broken.

"I will wait for you. I don't care if it takes hundreds and hundreds of years, I will wait for you. If you forget about me, if you don't make it back, I will love you for forever."

There was silence between them for a second.

"Charlie-"

"I didn't get to say it in the past life, so let me say it now, please let me say it before we say goodbye. Silena I love you, I have loved you since I met you. Remember that?"

She let loose a breathy laugh, the one she laughed when they were together late at night, trying to be quiet. "You dropped a hammer on your foot."

"You were so beautiful, even when you were thirteen. I loved you, even then."

"I love you too."

He kissed her, slowly. He kissed her hello, kissed her to remember the taste of her lips, the times at camp. He kissed that beautiful girl who tricked him into getting stuck in a giant ant hill to win a game of Capture the Flag. He kissed the girl who abruptly kissed him during the Fourth of July fireworks, and shoved Percy Jackson's shoulder when he laughed. He kissed honest, brave, Silena. Then he kissed her goodbye.

"For eternity." He mumbled into her forehead.

He turned around, taking one last look at her, and smiled. When he walked through the Gates that all those who enter Elysium did, he flashed Gold, and disappeared forever. To be safe and happy at the Isles of the Blest.

Silena stared after where he went, not because she expected him to come back, but because she couldn't let the moment go.

Finally she took a deep breath, and stepped through the gates herself. Her whole body shuddered, she was suddenly overwhelmed with the shining lights around her. Gold exploded around her, much like the gold that Charlie had dissolved into, and she cried out his name one last time. Everything she was, was scattering into a thousand pieces and reforming into a new person, in a new life. She wondered, the last thought of Silena Beuregard, is she would ever see him again; How she hoped she would.

She loved him and he loved her; For eternity.
