The Demigod Games

Chapter 20

Sienna:
Jake and I trudge through the forest.
"I don't trust her." Jake says softly.
"Neither do I, but I don't want to kill her." I murmur.
"I know but I don't want to risk it. We don't know what she can do to us." Jake says.
"Yeah, but I'm opposed to killing her. And that is the only way to get rid of her." I mumble.
Jake nods. He takes my hand and we continue walking. Eventually we come across a bush of raspberries and we begin to collect them. After a couple of minutes, I hear a scream behind us. I whirl around, holding my sword. Jake turns just in time, as I see Piper burst through the bushes, two hellhound chasing her.
I grab my bow and arrow and I shoot an arrow, straight into the first hellhound's front leg.
Both of them whirl around, focusing their attention on us.
"Sienna, no." Jake cries.
I shake my head, launching in with my sword. Piper seems to understand and starts stabbing the other hellhound with her dagger.
Jake joins in helping me. I pull myself on the hellhounds back. It starts to try to buck me off. I grab my knife and try to stab it in the neck, only making minor injuries.
With no other option, I call down lightning, to strike it down. It works, but I'm instantly weakened. The hellhound bucks me off right before the lightning reaches him. I crumple by a tree and everything fades to black.

Jake:
I watch Sienna get thrown off the hellhound in horror, just as she strikes it down with lightning.
The hellhound explodes into dust and Sienna lands with a crack.
"Sienna!" I yell as I sprint over. Piper is having trouble with her hellhound, but I don't care.
When I reach Sienna, I quickly check for her pulse. It is still there, but it is faint and she is barely breathing. Tears begin to gather in my eyes.
"Sienna, please stay with me." I cry.
There is no response from her part. She lays limp in my arms. Her ankle looks broken, and her face is pale.
I hear a scream behind me. I turn and see the hellhound above Piper, about to eat her. All of a sudden a strike of lightning comes down, making the hellhound explode into dust.
At first I think Sienna did it, but then I see Jason standing there. He helps Piper up and runs over to me.
He looks at his sister and he looks at the tears on my face.
"Is she dead?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No, she's breathing and has a pulse." I stammer.
Jason swings around his backpack and pulls out a square of ambrosia and a flask with nectar.
"I got the lucky backpack. Give this to her." He says handing it to me.
I grab it, open Sienna's mouth slightly and drizzle a bit of nectar into her mouth.
I see her right hand move slightly. I give her more and her eyes flutter open.
She looks dazed. I sigh in relief and I hung her.
"What happened?" She moans.
"You were bucked off the hellhound. You were knocked out." I say and I give her the ambrosia. "Eat it."
She grabs it and eats it. She chews it, smiling softly. I kiss her forehead and hug her.
"You scared me so much." I murmur. "I thought I had lost you."
"I'm really sorry." Piper mumbles.
I turn around, eyes blazing. "This is your fault! If you hadn't lead the hellhounds here, this wouldn't have happened to her! I swear to the gods, if Sienna wasn't alive right now, if the hellhounds wouldn't have killed you, I would have." I yell.
Piper flinches, and she begin to tear up.
Jason pushes me away from her angrily.
"Don't talk to her like that. It isn't her fault." He shouts.
"It is her fault. If it weren't for your stupid girlfriend, Sienna would be fine."
"It was Sienna's fault. She was the one who decided to help."
"Oh, so you care more about your girlfriend than you do your own sister."
"Oh shut up, you have no say in this." Jason retorts. He steps up to me eyes flashing dangerously.
"You wanna go? I'm not afraid of you, you pompous idiot!" I challenge.
"Don't talk to him like that!" Piper says angrily.
"Shut up Barbie. This is your fault anyway!" I yell.
Jason sparks, ready to blast me to bits.
"Shut up all of you!" Sienna screams.
She glares at Piper and Jason. "I suggest both of you leave now, unless you want to die. I may have a broken ankle, but I can still fight." Sienna says calmly.
Jason scowls and grabs Piper's hand. "Come on." He says gruffly. He quickly turns and throws me another 2 squares of ambrosia and another flask of nectar before running off with Piper.
I turn to Sienna. "Do you think you can walk back?" I ask softly.
"I can try." Sienna says and I help her up. She stands, but as soon as she puts a little bit of weight on her leg, her face loses every bit of color she had. She wavers and falls.
"That's not going to work." I murmur.
I pick her up, carrying her bridal style. Sienna looks at me and smiles kissing me softly. I then carry her back to the rest of the girls.
Sophie and Stacey come running when they see Sienna in my arms.
"What happened to her?" Stacey asks.
I quickly explain what happened.
"I think we should stay here for the rest of the day. It is too dangerous to leave." Sienna says.
I nod. I spot Delilah sitting down on a log. I ignore her. "I'm going to tend to Sienna. Call me if you need me." I let them know. I walk into the shelter and gently set Sienna down. I sit down next to her and take out the ambrosia and nectar.
"Your ankle must be killing you." I say.
"Its fine. The ambrosia and nectar are helping it." Sienna murmurs.
I kiss her softly. "You have no idea how afraid I was. I thought I had lost you." I admit. "You have no idea how much you mean to me. I love you more than anything."
"I do too. Jake, before I went to Camp Half-Blood, I was completely alone." She says. "I had a terrible home life. My mom was paralyzed in a car accident three years ago. My twin sister died in the accident as well. I had so much responsibility on my shoulders. I had to work after school. But then my mom died about 3 months before I met you of a heart attack. My dad never showed up. I was alone. You have no idea how much you mean to me. I'm so afraid to lose you."
I look down and she wipes her eyes. "I knew about your mother, but why did you never tell me about your sister?" I ask.
"She hated me. She saw me as competition in everything. Still, she was my sister and it hurt me when she died. Her name was Miranda, like the Ares tribute." She sobs.
I hug her and she sobs into my shirt. I kiss the top of her head and hold her close. Eventually she drifts off, still curled up against me. I sigh and start to drift off myself.
