The Demigod Games

Chapter 30

Spencer:
I stalk through the forest, rubbing my shoulder as I walk. I had survived the fire, but I had gotten hurt running away. I hit my shoulder when I ran into a tree.
Suddenly I hear a snap of twigs behind me. I spin around, but nothing is there. I hear a rustle of the bushes, and I turn my head. I pick up a stick, knowing that in a fight against a monster, it wasn't going to help me at all.
Suddenly, the most beautiful girl, around my age, steps out from behind a tree. When I mean beautiful, I mean even more beautiful that Sienna, or even Sienna, Piper and Annabeth combined.
My mind becomes foggy as I step forward. The girl flashes a dazzling smile. For a second, think I see fangs, but when I blink, they are gone.
The girl has blonde hair that goes to about her waist, beautiful blue eyes, and is about an inch shorter than me. She is wearing a short red dress that clings nicely to her body, and I have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming.
She giggles. "What's your name?" She asks in a voice, light and heavenly.
"Spencer." I respond dreamily.
She giggles again. "My name is Cassie."
"Pretty name." I mumble dumbly. My mind in completely foggy and I can't process anything.
Cassie smirks. "Oh how I love playing with male demigods." She says. She steps closer and moves her face near mine, almost as if to kiss me.
"You're kinda cute. Too bad I'm hungry." I watch frozen, as her hair turns to flames and her teeth elongate into fangs. In a swift move she sinks her fangs into my neck. I gasp in pain as she tears away, a piece of my flesh hanging from her mouth. I crumple to the floor, the pain blinding. The last thing I see is the hairy leg of a donkey, before I never see anything again.

Sienna:
I flinch as I hear a cannon. "How many are left?" I ask Jake.
"I'm not so sure. But its getting dark. We'll know in a while I guess." He responds, grabbing my hand. "In the mean time, we should find somewhere to take cover for the night."
I nod. "What would you prefer? Cave or tree?"
"Wait what happened to our tent?" He asks, only now noticing he wasn't carrying it."
"We lost it in the fire smart one." I answer letting out a small laugh.
"Oh." He says looking down. "I think we should go to a cave or something. We would be well hidden, and it would be easier to escape."
"Yeah, we have to start looking. Come on." I instruct.
We continue moving until we find a cave. It is big enough to fit both of us, and it is mostly hidden, with trees and shrubs covering it up. The entrance is small, but once I crawl inside, I see that the inside its huge, large enough for Jake to stand up without touching the ceiling. We find matches in a bag, and we light a small fire.
I slump down against a rock and I cover my face with my hands. I have a massive headache, and it won't go away.
"Are you okay?" Jake asks softly, sitting next to me.
"Yeah I'm fine. I only have a small headache." I whisper.
Jake pulls me into his lap and hugs me, kissing my forehead. I look to the side, the shadows of the flames flickering on the walls.
"Who do you think is still alive?" Jake asks pulling my closer. I place my head on his shoulder and I sigh.
"If anyone, I would guess it would be Percy and Annabeth." I reply.
"Yeah. They are the real challenge here, whether we like it or not." He agrees.
Suddenly we hear the music blasting through the arena. Jake and I quickly crawl out, and we stare at the sky.
I watch in horror as they play through all of the deaths. When they play through Stacey's and Sophie's, I turn around, tears streaming down my face. Jake pulls me in for a hug.
"So that is all for tonight. We only have 4 victors left. Good luck, and may they odds be ever in your favor." We hear a voice say, booming across the arena.
"We were right. Percy and Annabeth are still alive." Jake whispers.
I feel a pit of doom in my stomach. I pull Jake into cave.
"What are we going to do?" I ask.
"We are going to have to find them and hunt them down. We are going to have to catch them by surprise, kill them before they know whats going on." Jake says with a bitter, vicious tone I had never heard before.
I stare at him, and he notices. "I'm sorry." He mumbles.
I kiss him. "I know you just want to get us out of here." I say.
He nods and stares intently at the fire, deep in thought.
"We should get some sleep, we've been up for more than 14 hours." He says.
As he says it, my body begins to feel the weariness and stiffness of a long day. Jake takes his jacket off and makes it into a pillow. I do the same. We lay down next to each other. Jake hugs me closer and I rest my head on his chest, pressed up against his side.
I close my eyes, and sleep finally takes me.

Notes

I know I finally updated. The end is coming, probs in the next chapter or two. There will be a chapter or two after the winners get out of the arena. Thanks for reading, and I'm sorry I'm taking so long.
