03.

The confines were small.

Like before, I slowly crept down the stairs, as they spiraled around. With each corner that I took, my heart raced until, I reached the bottom. Taking a step forward, I lost my footing, and tucked into a ball and rolled. Glancing back, I smiled.

The memory was faint but, I remembered when I had warned Jason and Piper about the last step. Glancing at my foot, I pt some weight and felt no pain. "Irony." I murmured to myself.

The swage system spead for miles. After walking for a consitant thirty minutes, I grew bored. I had no idea where I was going, but when I found water, I decided to follow it. When I came to a stop, I found a hidden wall leading to a long pathway outside.

Accending didn't take to long, and when I did, I ended up at the summit of a cathedral. At the top a man with a scruffy face and jet black hair like mine sat. He held on a mustered green jacket, a pair of customed taper jeans and a pair of the latest Italian pair of sneakers.

"Beautiful view today." He said enthusiasticly. He sat at the edge of the roof almost like he were at a poolside. "Italy is beautiful isn't it? The romance, the art, the renosansce. Oh that was just splendid, I remember it like it was just yesterday."

"Yesterday?" I gazed at the man useasied. I never met a god who would easily speak of the past as if he were surrounded by demigods daily.

"Yes, I loved Leonardo di Vincci's work. Micheal was amazing too. He had a way with his art that made you just envy him. Could you imagine a god being envious of a mere mortal?"

"Not really, but gods do at times become stubborn." I replied carelessly.
The man laughed a good deep belly laughter. "You mean Jupiter." He said thoughtfully. "Although for you, it'd be Zeus, the god of lightning and the sky right?"

"Yea, it's not like it changes." I said a bit rudely.
The man gazed at the sky intently. "Not to you, but to him, it does." He said thoughtfully. "I'm Chaos, or Aer, whatever you'd like. You see unlike your gods, I'm a god that never changes. Order and deseree never changes. It always remains order or it always remains anarchy. Chaos is the same."

"You're really nice for a god." I smiled. "Even nicer than Aphrodite."
"Aphrodite?" Chaos thought back. Recalling the memory, he smiled. "The gorgeous creature that was sired by Uranus, I remember her. During the time of Britain, I had an escapade with her. It was marvelous, she can be young, but the young ones are-"

"Anyways!" I interupted a bit imbarassed. "I'm here because Poseidon sent me here to seek you as my final challenge as a demigod."

Turning, Chaos rose. His expression hardened as he took a good look at me. Finally taking in a conclusion, he shook his head. "I decline." He concluded. "I would not want to kill a demigod of honor, I remember seeing you when you were twelve. Scrawny weak little thing you were. Now you're a grown man and you seek death."

"What makes you so sure you will kill me?" I challenged him.
Chaos smiled. "I've lived for eons. I created the world, I created life. I created time, darkness, night. Name it and I created it. With out me, you would've never been born. I am the supreme being. I am a protogenos, the first protogenos, the god of the universe."

"You finished?" I teased. "I am Percy Jackson, Son of Poseidon, the one who defeated Kronus, I handled the Giants Polybotes, Otis and Ephialties, and fought with the Queen of Dirt herself, Gaea. I have saved Olympus from destruction twice and been on dangerous quests. I fought with Chrysaor at sword point and survived the pit of tartarus. That's a real boast."

Chaos smiled. "Verywell." He sighed. "Follow me." Chaos walked down the stairs and made his way all the way down back into the sewers.

Inside, I gazed at him amazed. He was unarmed and still gazed at me unnerved or frightened. In fact he was completely calm. His stance was open while mine was more closed and ready for and attack.

Holding his arm back a black sword formed. He sighed as he closed his eyes. "I normally don't fight much, so excuse me if I'm a bit limber. I also want to appologize if I do or don't live up to your expectations."

Irratated, I moved in for an attack. With a strike, my blade matched his. His eyes became emotionless as I charged in with a barrage of attacked. Calmly and effortlessly he blocked all of my attacks. He was just toying with me.

Enraged, I charged in with Roman combat, taking in the defensive, I took five seconds. Every five seconds, I would attack and retreat. I wasn't trying to keep the battle going, I was trying to draw him in, but sadly he didn't take the bait.

After a few minutes, I smiled, exhausted. "Your good." I said breathlessly.
Chaos smiled. "I'm sorry, did you say something? I wasn't listening."

Suddenly, my smile faded. "You really are trying to tick me off aren't you!" I charged with a split second, my body felt numb, glancing down, I noticed a gaping slash through my upper chest to see Chaos had struck me down.

Coughing up blood, my body fell. I couldn't move my body, or my fingers, all I could do was watch as Chaos walkeed toward me. Pain raced through my mind.

The pain of my open would.
The pain of breaking my promise.
The pain of losing Annabeth, all that raced through mind. But the most prominent one was the pain and fear of death.

Closing my eyes, I got mobility in my left arm, struggling to pull out the travel rose, I found it. Pulling it out, it burned in my hands. Glancing down at Chaos I realized this was my death. I now knew what Nico was afraid of, he didn't have a bad feeling before.

He knew. He had seen my death. The death of a son of Poseidon, the foreshadowing of my death. "No." I whimpered. "No, please! Don't!" I cried. "Don't killed me." I pleaded.

"The ones that challenge me never survive a day to tell about it." Chaos said. Barring his blade over my head, he slowly pressed it down until, all that could be heard was the cutting of a blade. . .
