Nathan wasn't all for school.
In reality, he normally just did his work, and then went to sleep. Pretty much any time an important person from the county board walked in, they'd ask: "Why is that kid sleeping?" And the teacher would have to explain that he was a hard kid to keep awake.
Nathan blames it on his ADHD, but his mom says it's just the fact that he's super smart. He didn't believe that, but he'd learn over time just to nodd and agree with a woman. Especially when it came to his mother.
After making it to his third period, he caught a glimpse of the popular wrestler, Jeremy. He had curly black hair and a cut body. He didn't seem tough, and most of the time, he was very friendly. But aside from that he had won three medals: one from the county and two from the state. He was also known as the class clown.
Walking into class, Nathan took his seat in the back, took a pillow from the back closet and rested his head ready to take a nap. Closing his eyes, a loud book slammed. With a swift opening of his eyes, Nathan looked at the teacher to recognize another shape behind hers. It was obstructed by her humane form, but it looked like what you'd think the devil looked like. A layering of crimson blood red skin, fang-like teeth and giant bat-like wings.
"I will be your teacher for today." Said the creature. "We are watching a movie, to be precice we are watching Tatarus. A movie about a human teen who ends up waking up in living hell." She smiled pursing her wrinkly lips together."Enjoy."
Nathan remained awake for the entirr period. When it was done, the bell rang and everybody left, but him. He sat there, waiting for her to strike him. He had dreams about this. Dreams about killing his first monster, dreams about being killed by monsters. Nathan had always passed it off as his imagination, but now he was gazing at one.
"Why are you here?" Nathan asked keening his vision toward her.
The woman was only five foot three and didn't seem to pose much of a threat, but Nathan knew she was dangerous.
Chuckling, she turned. "Aren't you going to run?" She asked.
"What difference does it make, you're not going to let me leave that easily." He replied.
"Smart kid." She smiled. In a shift of her neck, she snapped her neck as her body morphed into more of that satanic look. She looked hideous yet appealing. It drew in that inner artist in him, which made him want to draw her.
"Now," She muscled. "Do me a favor and don't move." In a lurch forward, she assume a position as if she were going to eat me whole.Closing his eyes, he moved. Nathan didn't know how, or why but he was now at the door stepping out of the door.
Seconds later, he was being hulled down the hallway as the demon thrashed about behind him. With a quick, one two jump, he made his way out of school and into the hustle and bustle of traffic. After making it five blocks away, he stopped to have a girl with blonde hair appear out of thin air.
"Who are you?!" He screeched. "How did you? When did you? You can turn invisible?!" A million questions ran through his mind, but the girl seemed more fixed on a small IPhone-like contraption. It had a delta symbol on the top and seemed to be more complicated, but definitely looked like something apple would make.
"The name's Elizabeth. I'm here to protect you, and I was in your class the entire time. I sit in the front of class thrit row from the left." She replied. "as to the whole invisilbe thing, no. I use these." Holding up her arm she fashioneda pair of braclets. "They come in a set, there's also a hat, a pair of boots and a neckalace."
"Ok?" Nathan replied a bit confused. "So what are you supposed me protect me from? The old hag that went all ape-like?"
"No, I'm supposed to protect and guide you till we reach Camp." She replied. "Come on, we need to find an old friend of mine, if I'm not mistaken, she works nearby."
