Percabeth Drabble

Hockey AU

When Percy was at the draft, Annabeth had almost cried because he was the third pick in the league, behind only two other prospects. Of course, the played different positions as defaults. Either way, Annabeth and Percy's family beamed with pride and he gave each of them a hug, a peck in the cheek toward Annabeth. His name is announced by the loud speakers, shouting out the number '12' afterwards. Camera flashes lot up Percy's smiling face, holding up the blue jersey sporting his last name across it.

He had been traded from the Rangers to the Islanders after three years, then after a year he was traded to Chicago. Annabeth lived with him in the Windy City for about two years before another trade happened, sending them to Los Angeles. Annabeth was grateful to see her dad again, but went back to her own architecture firm. When Percy got the call from his agent that another trade was in the works, he grinned at Annabeth. "Looks like you were right about leasing. We go back to the Rangers."
Stanley Cup face offs were among the most intense. It was the championship game, Rangers vs. Kings. Both team captains faced each other as the puck dropped, black and blue jerseys clashing.

"Brown with the puck, stolen by Jackson. He's on a breakaway with ten seconds left! GOAL!" The announcers shouted into the microphones, the rink erupting into cheers. The scoreboard changed to 3-2: Rangers. It was only the third game of the six, but the Rangers still seemed to hold onto the cup. The buzzer rang loudly, signaling the end of the third period. More screams erupted as the players shook hands.

After the game Annabeth waited by the locker room entrances for Percy, since she hitched a ride with his parents. The game had tarted late so they needed his little sister to get to bed. Annabeth had jitters and was still excited from the game. When players began exiting the locker room, the greater her as they passed, exhausted. Percy emerged last, still grinning. Annabeth kissed him, going on with congratulations about how well he had played. She kept recounting the crowd while he was on the ice, all the while disregarding his sweaty hair.
