The First Daughter

This Does Not Make Scents

Hades looked at all of us, his hands were behind his back, and his gaze watching us from above like an eagle’s. His robes flowed around him and at his feet a cloud of dust and lack huffed and swayed with him as he walked. I sat on the side of my legs using my toes to push myself up from the floor slightly so my hip didn’t touch the hard ground; I supported the upper part of my body with my elbow and twisted myself accordingly to watch Hades circle around us. I watched his face, at first he seemed to have a controlled calm but his face seemed to break out in fear like a bubbling volcano.

I watched closely; ready to act on anything that Hades might throw at us. But then it was like somebody had grabbed his ear and turned him in a 180 to the wall. He groaned and I quickly leapt up not know what else to do I grabbed my knife from my belt attempting to strike him down and maybe if I was successful in hitting him I may have screamed for everyone to run, but as it was, that didn’t happen.

As I came down a dark cloud surrounded Hades and consumed him completely. Then a pillar of that smoke aimed itself at me and flesh had grabbed my neck. I nearly blacked out as the iron grip slowly tightened around my neck. The smoke disseated and I looked into a different face that stared at me blankly, “Now Miss Hannah, please be a little more diplomatic here.”
My vision was getting blurry on the edges gaining some glassy texture. Blood was building up in my brain rather quickly and I heard my heartbeat running through my ears; it was so loud I could hardly make out the voices talking. Maybe it was Darren?

All I remember is collapsing to the floor as a rush came to my head as I heaved for air and even on my knees I tipped over and landed against someone. I felt the arms wrap around me to support me and Darren’s body separate from the other holding from me came in front with a seriously concerned look, and asked me if I was ok. I managed to reply saying I was going to be ok. Darren turned back around and I was able to see Hades again. But it was then I realized that this was Pluto that we were talking with now.

Pluto was well dressed with a pin striped black suit with solid black slacks with black dress shoes and his hair was combed back in a sleek wealthy good –looking business man.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked, still gruff and sore from the choke hold.
Pluto paused as if to calculate his answer, but he soon spoke in a controlled calm manner, “To remove and hold the nine that defeated Gaea holds the power, to remove them would mean that one holds the playing cards-“
“What about my Mother?” I asked accusingly pushing away the person that was holding me, who was apparently Frank.

Pluto cocked only a small grin, tiny, “Your Mother was one of the first to sense the war coming and to act upon it. Taking out the scout is the first sign of war; it also seems that her imprisonment makes the gods’ world turn upside down with the balance nearly being overturned. Therefore it is a distraction for the snake to slip through and poison the gods.”
“But you don’t want that do you?” Annabeth asked, “Overturning the gods leaves the universe into chaos and hell would-“ Annabeth paused and gasped, “No, he can’t behind this!”
When Annabeth clearly made a connection or something, the cave we were in began to shake in the beginning of a powerful earthquake. Pluto looked down at us, “Clearly I am being summoned elsewhere. Good day to you, demigods.” And he disappeared into the cloud of smoke.

I turned around and faced Annabeth, “Who’s behind this?” I asked above the noise as chunks of rocks began to fall around us.
Annabeth looked around and then looked back at me, “Now’s not the time! We have to get Percy and get out of here!”
Everyone scrambled up from their positions, “But where is Percy?” Darren asked.
“Here’s another question:” I replied, “Where’s Lilly?”
“First things, first” Reyna said, “Let’s get out of here!”
“I know where Percy is!” Annabeth declared and disappeared through the hole Darren and I had come through. “Follow her!” Jason commanded. We lined up behind Jason who started the line and we each filed out of the captive room.

Once again I didn’t like the crowded…ness of the tiny tunnel, and this time I was staring at the ginormous butt of Frank. I just hoped that this guy wouldn’t produce any wind, if you catch my drift. Hey what can I say? I tried closing my eyes and try to imagine that I’m crawling through underbrush in a forest rather than crawling through a stone tube that wants to fall on me. I tried to pretend that I was breathing fresh air, rather than musty old stone air but hardly anything worked but I made it out and the tunnel began to widen out. Once we came back into the dark side of the cavern that Darren and I had used to enter the tunnel in the first place I collapsed to the ground to breathe somewhat fresher air.
“Where’s Lilly?” Darren asked when my face was planted on the floor. I sat up on my knees and looked around; there was the two guards on the floor passed out but there was no Lilly to be seen. I knocked off the rubble on my face, “She knows how to handle herself, she’ll be ok.” I replied, and I sure hoped so.

“Percy’s this way!” Annabeth called out. Everyone started to move again and I was helped by Darren who smiled and went his way with the others and I followed behind. Although I felt Percy’s presence, something else really bothered me and I couldn’t put my finger on it. I could somehow smell something and I lost my focus on where I was and where I was going and all I could think about was the smell; It wasn’t horrible it had a familiarity that I wasn’t comfortable with it had a familiarity that I remember feeling hostile to, but I couldn’t place where I had smelled it before.

But it wasn’t until we came into the domed room which I had seen Percy dangling was when I remembered the scent. I called out to the others to stop but it was too late before us standing beside the dangling Percy was Hazel.

Notes

I have found the face claim for Darren (look this guy up Caleb Ruminer) but I do not have a face claim for Hannah or Lilly it would be nice if you guys can suggest different actresses! And if you would follow and ask questions on this blog i'd like to know also! Thanks!

Did you base Eliza on yourself?

Really well written! I truly appreciated the whole storyline, with its well-development characters and adventurous plot. I would love to read some more.
