The First Daughter

Gone Forever

Chapter 31:

My lip trembled, and my vision blurred with tears.

"Daww!" The possessed Nico taunted, "Did the big bad ghosty-whostie hurt the whittle girlly whirlly?"

That was when my anger took over I put away my bow and yelled throwing myself at him.
I threw my left at his face but he quickly blocked it. Controlled Nico delivered a punch to my gut and I stumbled back, then I took up my knife from my pocket and let the blade line up with the side of my arm and I attacked him with my left hand first and he covered his face and then I came down with the knife, coming into a lock. Nico blocked again and I got to look at him directly in the face; then it was when I realized I wasn't fighting another demigod I was fighting a ghost that was using him.

I sensed something coming up behind me and I quickly relented my attack and turned to demolish a earthen creature I looked down and saw the dirt spread over Lilly's unmoving body. I paused for second until Nico's forearms wrapped around my neck and head. I would have screamed but Nico's arm covered my mouth so screaming wouldn't help me. I groaned and tired using my elbow to jab Nico in the gut but Nico moved to quickly before I could get him. It was then while I was still struggling at my feet another earthen warrior was forming. As he rose up I put my feet on his shoulders, then taking a foothold on the nub that was slowly becoming a head. My legs were loosing ground as this thing was getting taller and taller. I bent my knees and pushed myself off, flipping over Nico's head causing him to let go of me and then fall on his back. I landed perfectly with both feet on the ground and I stood over him.

Honestly I didn't know what to do right then, magic purges magic, if that was true, then there was hardly anything I could do. Controlled Nico groaned and twisted his body in pain. I then took action and knelt down and quickly grabbed a handful of his hair and held the knife to his throat. Hey it was something.

"Alright ghosty, if you don't come out, you loose your powerful piece."

He choked out a laugh, "You would kill your friend."

"Oh, I really don't know this guy, so." I pressed the jagged blade harder into his throat.

"If you kill him, I'll just find somebody else." He wheezed.

"But you don't want anyone else do you?" I asked.

He didn't reply and I vented my building frustration by using my knife to slice Nico's hair close to the scalp. I didn't have a hold anymore on Nico since I just cut his hair so I came around and pinned him again so he wouldn't run, "Don't try my patience."

He smiled a crooked smile, "You're just like your mother."

That just pricked me, no, no, stabbed me, I grabbed his collar and pulled him closer to my face, "What do you know about my mother?!"

He chuckled, "She's a fighter you know, but he will break her."

"WHERE IS SHE!?" I demanded.

He laughed again, "Wouldn't you like to know. Ta ta!"

The shadow left Nico and Nico quickly wilted in my hands and the shadow disappeared. I groaned in frustration and dropped Nico to the ground and he quickly woke up as I walked away. I closed my eyes and swallowed, I opened my eyes and there was Lilly lying on the ground.

"Lilly!" I knelt next to her and almost gagged at the sight of the bloody wound, but I managed to keep my lunch down as I looked at Lilly face any sign of life. I leaned over her putting my ear close to her mouth to listen or feel for anything.

Nothing.

I put my ear on her chest to listen for any heartbeat.

Nothing.

I was speechless, my mouth dropped open as tears clouded my vision.

But The Fates have cut a string It cannot be undone.

The words of the oracle vex me, tease me; at that moment I wanted to switch places with Lilly. I would have rather died instead of Lilly. I yelled in frustration, ran my fingers through my hair and pounded my fists on either side of me. I feel a pair of firm hands on my shoulders, but I don't care who it is, a voice tells me that we have to leave, that we were going to be surrounded soon if we didn't move. I pulled myself away, didn't say anything and just let myself weep for Lilly. But then my body was hoisted and was carried away, I tried to thrash in protest but it was no use.

I melted and wept hopelessly as a guy with blonde hair and a bow carried me away, away from Lilly.

Forever.
