The Rise Of The Titans Series: Kronos's Revenge (Book 1)

Chapter 3

After Chiron's long lecture about their safety, the demigods cautiously boarded Leo's car. The car looked seriously high-tech, along with its sea green color texture. Leo sat at the drivers seat while Percy sat shotgun. "Here we go," Leo said, and dampened the "Go" pedal. The car jerked forward and almost crashed into Hera's cabin.
"Leo, do you know how to drive a car?"Jason asked. Everyone knew that he hated Hera, but destroying her cabin would make her very angry, and she could cause extreme tantrums.

"No, but I got this,"

He backed up, but tipped over an trash can.

"Oh boy. Maybe Percy should drive, Leo. He has his driver's license." Annabeth said.

"Yeah, he probably should," Leo agreed, and let go of the wheel. He swiftly switched seats with Percy, who pulled the car out of the mess.

The ride was a lot smoother as Percy drove. Piper and Jason started investigating the Titan's lair with Annabeth's Daedalus laptop computer.

"Gods, they have multiple Titans guarding the doors. That's going to be hard to get around," Jason said, he pointed a the screen.

"There are Romans near that location, too," Annabeth said.

"And Kronos." Piper added. The car jerked as something shot into them. The car rattled uncontrollably and there was a clanking sound of metal against the roof of the car.

"Oh, hell!" Leo yelped, "We're not even 10 minutes on the road and the car has already broken down!"

Percy started the car again, and the wheels started to turn, but the car would not move, as if there was another force pushing against it.

"It's not the car's problem," Annabeth said, "Get out of it, let's go check what's blocking the car."

Percy clenched the handle of the door and opened it, getting out of the car along with his friends. Standing there was a tall and buff man wearing robes. Percy stared at him with utter confusion. "Hercules!" Piper yelled.

Hercules had his hands tucked neatly behind his back. He smiled dryly at the,. Wearily glancing at the damaged car.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were on our side!" Leo protested, glancing at his car in disgust.

Hercules ignored Leo, and met Piper and Jason's eyes, his expression hardening.
"I've been waiting for quite a while for these two to come out of camp, since I was unable to contact you. Now, I will kill these two demigods for humiliating me, unless they give me the cornucopia I was promised," He snarled

Percy glanced from Piper to Jason and mouthed, what did you two do?

Piper narrowed her eyes at Hercules,"Not a chance." Annabeth shot her an dangerous look.

"That's-" she put in.

"Hercules, yes, I know." Piper interrupted. She unzipped her backpack and pulled out a cornucopia, and held out the horn-like object teasingly. Hercules looked angrier.

"No? So that means I finally can kill you!!" He growled. He held out his hand and a huge bronze sword appeared, it's blade gleaming in the light. He aimed the sword at Piper and Jason. Jason drew his golden sword and Piper unsheathed Katoptris.

Hercules smirked. "Two foolish demigods verses an god. This shall be amusing, indeed."

"Make it three." Leo said. He unbuckled his hammer from his tool belt.

Hercules slammed his sword at the floor and it cracked, making Leo crumble to the Earth, and laid there, unconscious. "This is not your fight, Hephaestus boy,"

Annabeth and Percy rushed to Leo, who was still breathing shallowly. They tried to slap him awake, but he would not budge. Fury bursted into Percy's chest.

Hercules roughly pushed Piper away and approached Jason, pressing his sword closer to his throat.

"Jason!" Piper yelled in alarm. Piper held the cornucopia in the air desperately, and closed her eyes.

Fresh fruit shot out of the cornucopia.

Hercules grinned at the produce that shot from the cornucopia and sliced the fruits with his sword rapidly. Percy couldn't help thinking that he looked like a fruit ninja.

"Do you truly think that I would fall for your pathetic trick again, demigod?" Hercules asked sneeringly, "Gods learn from their mistakes."

"That's not true," Percy finally said, picking himself up from Leo's unsconcious form. The son of Zeus turned to him, his brilliant blue eyes flashing, and he slowly pulled down the point of his sword from Jason's neck.

"Perseus Jackson, savior of Olympus," Hercules said, glaring at him, "And why would you say that?"

"I'm saying that because gods, such as you, don't realize that who the actual enemy is. It's been like this for centuries, and you gods still don't change," Percy snapped, clenching his fist tightly.

A growl erupted from Hercule's throat, "Actual enemy? I am nothing like the other gods. I have been cruelly punished for so long. The actual enemy is you, who have been favored over me, not whatever shit you are questing for right now."

Percy stared back confidently, "And what are you going to do when you are finished with us? What satisfaction is it that you will earn?" He implied softly.

"I will finally return to the pillars of the Mediteranean, with the cornucopia that daughter of Aphrodite and son of Zeus stole from me! I will gain the satisfaction of Archelous's shame!" Hercules raged.

"It won't matter anyways after you take the cornucopia," Percy snapped, "As you obviously are blinded to is the fact that Kronos has risen again. He will destroy all god's once more if Percy is not there to defeat him."

Hercules laughed, but Percy saw his dangerous eyes grew a bit uneasy. "And why should I care? Kronos will not destroy me, he will merely disintegrate the twelve Olympians."

"And what makes you say that, Lord Hercules? Kronos will destroy you, without a doubt. He does not care for gods," Piper cut in, her charmspeak pulled onto full effect.

Hercules swayed, then nodded slowly at the sound of her voice.

"Don't kill us, my lord. We are the key to your salvation, along with your relatives," Piper said.

Hercules glanced at her, "Very well, then. I will let you go, but I will not hesitate to kill you next time if you ever cross my line again."

Piper smiled sweetly, "We are very grateful, Lord Hercules, please leave us to our peace."

Hercules gave them a terse nod, then disappeared in a flash. Percy let out a long breath of relief.

Jason pulled Piper by the waste and kissed her forehead, "Way to go, Pipes, you saved the day" He murmured to her., then turned to Percy, "You did too, man," smiling at him.

"Yes," Annabeth agreed, who was still at Leo's side, "Let's hurry back into the car, can someone help me take Leo?"

Percy nodded and helped Annabeth carry Leo back into the car, where Piper and Jason fed him chunks of ambrosia and a cup of nectar.

"He'll be alright," Jason reported, "His breathing is back to normal."

"Good," Percy said, "Here we go, again." Percy started the car and left for the road.
