Starting Over

Tyler stood up so quickly he looked like batman. He was mad: his eyes were narrowed and his mouth was straight. I quickly got up to and hid behind him. Funny enough, every time Tyler got mad I get scared and the only place I feel safe when I am scared is with Tyler. Dad got up and he was smiling as if Tyler wasn't mad. Big mistake. "For me? FOR ME? I was happy for eight years! Then you come back and my life turns into a living hell! What kind of damn reasoning is that?" I stepped back from him and just stared. I never herd Tyler curse before, now the first time I do, he's cursing at our dad. Dad looked unfazed and he just went to smile at me. "I don't think our pair of little ears need to here this. Lets fix that now huh?" With a wave of his hands, Dad created a ball of light that soon turned into a dog. It was a golden retriever, I remember when I saw one at a pet shop and I wanted it. The dog was running towards me and I was chasing it with joy. He began to run towards the cabins and I chased him. "Where are you going Sunny?" I yelled at him. We played for a while, running all through the woods until I came across my cabin.

I noticed Brandon standing with pretty much the whole cabin outside. They were laughing when they saw me. "Who's your new friend Fiona?" one of my sisters asked. "This is Sunny. He's a golden retriever!" Sunny barked as if to confirm what I said. I chased him for a while and one of my siblings would join me occasionally, then they would return to their conversation. After a while I sat down around my siblings and patted Sunny's head. They told me stories of there battles with Percy in the Second Titan War and The War with Gaea and The Roman and Greek Battle, most of them fought in all of the wars and some of them only fought in the last two. "So, Tyler and I are like the youngest in the cabin?" "Not really, but in a way, yeah." "Cool!" We all just laughed for a while. Then Tyler came, so I ran up to him. "Tyler! Guess what? Most of these guys fought in three wars, all of them with Percy! Isn't that-" I barley noticed that Tyler wasn't facing me. "Go inside and go to bed, now!" he snapped. Tyler tried to never snapped at me. For the first time in my life, I got mad at him. I stomped off into my cabin, with Sunny close on my heels, and slammed the door.

As soon as I got into the cabin, I grabbed my pajamas and went into the bathroom to change. I was about to go to sleep when I herd Brandon's voice. "Look, Dad can be a pain, especially when it comes to poetry, but he is one of the kindest gods there are." "He said he already talked to you guys?" Tyler's voice had a hardness in his voice I wasn't use to. "Look. Couple of weeks before you came, Dad came to us in our dreams. He said you would come with a little girl. He told us that you would have trance and that we should help you with it." "I didn't ask for any help and sure as hell didn't ask for Apollo's 'gift'. In fact, his little gift almost got Fiona and I killed." He told them about that day in the woods. Brandon spoke up. "You can't really count that. No one knew about you except for us and we didn't tell anyone." "Our claiming, not a single one of you guys seemed happy. In fact you guys were scared." They were? I was to busy looking at Dad's symbol. "We were scared," Brandon said. "Put yourself in my shoes. I've been with this cabin since I was twelve. I've seen people leave and die. Now, there is only ten of us now. You guys were kids of Apollo in years and right before you guys came we get a message from our dad that his next child will have a rare and dangerous gift. We are just worried, we don't know what's going to happen." "Whatever."

Sunny was nudging against me and I patted his head. I herd footsteps coming and I took off for my bed. Sunny and I climbed into bed and pretended to be asleep. "Fiona?" I knew that was Tyler, but I was still mad at him and I didn't even want to look at him. I just ignored him and I felt guilty. "Fiona, I know you're awake." I still ignored him. He just sighed and I herd him pet Sunny. "Watch over her for the night okay? Night Sunny. Goodnight Fiona." Tyler kissed my head. I herd everyone getting ready and exchange goodnights then everyone seemed to fall asleep almost instantly. I herd a humming and knew not everyone was asleep. "Tyler?" "Yes, Fiona?" "Why were you mad at me?" "I don't know. I'm sorry." "I'm sorry too. I got mad at you too." "It's okay." "Are we going to be okay?" He took a while to answer me. "It's going to be okay. No matter what happens." "Okay. I can keep Sunny right?" He chuckled. "I'll talk to Chiron in the morning, but I'm sure he won't mind." "Here that sunny? You get to stay with us." I knew Tyler was smiling. "It's getting late, you need to go to sleep." "Goodnight, Tyler." Sunny cuddled up against me and I fell asleep instantly.
*********************************************************************************************************** It's been about a month since we meet our dad. Tyler still calls Dad Apollo, but at least Tyler and I were still pretty good. After breakfast Sunny and I ran over to Annabeth's judo class. I would of gone to sword training with Tyler, but he made it very clear that I wasn't allowed to go near a sword until I was at lest twelve. It would of been fifteen if Chiron hadn't said that was unreasonable. Luckily, he also said that Sunny was more than welcomed at camp. Anyway, I had decided to take up judo because it was fun to watch peoples faces as I flipped them over. Class went on pretty well and I had taken down five people and Sunny just sat in the corner and only barked when I took down someone. I was sitting down now, taking a brake, when Annabeth sat down with me. Sunny began to grow and get into pouncing position. He did this often, but he only showed his teeth when he sensed a threat. His teeth weren't showing. I laughed. "Sunny, no. Annabeth is a friend." "Yea sunshine, I'm a friend!" He licked Annabeth's face before he settled down next to me. "So, I see you have your own little security guard, huh?" "Yea, sorry about that he was just playing." "It's cool. I have to say though, you have excelled so much in my class. You could even be a black belt before you turn twelve." "Cool! So I can be black belt and I can start to learn how to use a sword." "Keep it up and you might be almost as dangerous as me." "I don't think this camp could handle that!" We laughed for a while.

"I've been meaning to talk to you for a while now actually. Think you can spare a minuet?" "Sure." Annabeth, Sunny and I walked along to we were at the camp's border and we sat down on the hill. "You've gotten use to things here yet?" "It's nothing like home, I can honestly say that." I guess I couldn't hide the fear in my voice of my memories of 'home'. "Calypso told me about your conversation with her when you first got here. She said you sounded scared and she figured it was about Nico getting mad at you." I hadn't thought about that since the last time Nico was here. Artemis and the hunters came two weeks ago and Nico was reunited with Bianca. Nico took Bianca to visit his other sister, Hazel and I haven't seen him since then.

"So?" "At first I thought that to but I've noticed something over the past month. Every time someone brings up you and your home you don't want to talk to talk about it. You seem to get upset. When I was younger, camp felt like my only home to and I got upset when someone tried to get me to talk about it. I wouldn't even go home for the school year until I was twelve. I-" "No offense Annabeth, but my past isn't like yours. I'm fine." "Fiona, I'm only bringing this up because, everyone is still concerned for you. Marry told me you talk in your sleep. You say things like how you don't want to go back to the closet and how you were so sorry. There getting worse. You were even sleep walking last night." "Tyler asked you to talk to me, didn't he?" "Him and everyone else in your cabin. We're worried. Not even Tyler knows what you meant and he knows you wouldn't tell him. What's wrong?"

"My mom. I got really sick one time and I was in the hospital for two weeks. I was playing around with Mother's medication. By the time I got home I was to sick to get out of bed. One time Tyler had to go grocery shopping and had to leave me alone. I really wanted to go with him but it was better for my health if I stayed. Mother barged into my room and-" the look on Annabeth's face was complete sorrow. I continued anyway. "She was mad for some reason. I got up and told her sorry. She grabbed me by the arm and locked me into a closet. I stayed in there for hours until Tyler found me. When he asked me why I was there I lied and said I herd mom yell and decided to hide. The next time Tyler had to leave me alone, Mother beat me and threw me into the closet. This went on for a while. The first time Mother hit me in front of Tyler, he threw her off of me and we ran away." I hugged my knees and buried my face. Annabeth just patted my back for a while then she left me alone.

I just sat there for a while. I never told anyone about what Mother did to me, especially Tyler. I only got hurt really bad once, and that left a scar above my right eye. I had hid it from everyone by placing my bangs over it. I didn't know how long I was out there until I herd Tyler. "You okay?" "Did Annabeth tell you?" "Yes. Why didn't you?" "I didn't want to worry you any more." He just sat down and hugged me. No crying, no talking, he just hugged me. I pulled away and faced him, then I lifted my bangs. For the first time ever, I showed someone the arched scar that can over my right eyebrow. Tyler just hugged me again. Sunny rested his head my lap and we all just stayed there. "I'm so sorry, I promised that I would take care of you and I let this happen to you. Forgive me." "Tyler?" "Yes?" "There's nothing to forgive you for. Okay?" "Yeah, okay. Hey, how was judo class?" I spent the next couple of minuets telling him about how my class went.
