The Lost Daughter

Consulting Chiron

"Perce, I'm sure it's nothing." Grover assured me. I had told Annabeth and Grover my dream from the previous night. "Grover, you can't be sure. His dreams have been pretty real in the past." Annabeth protested. That was true. "Maybe we should tell the Oracle." I said. "Not without talking to Chiron first." Annabeth said. "To tell you the truth, that's the last thing I want to do." I confessed. Chiron seemed to be on my case lately. It made me wonder...

"Fine, whatever. Do something about it, though. Either go to the creepy Oracle, or Chrion. Whichever you prefer." Annabeth said. She seemed in a bad mood right now. "Are you alright?" I asked her. "I'm... fine. You better hurry." She said, and then trudged off. "What's with her?" I whispered. Grover just shrugged.

Five minutes later, I was standing in front of the Big House, the last place I wanted to be right then. I saw Annabeth go in a few minutes ago. But I went in anyway. "Percy! We've been waiting." Chiron said. He was sitting in his wheelchair beside the couch where Annabeth was. I avoided her eyes. "Listen, I need to talk to you." I said.

"Who, me or Chiron?" Annabeth asked. "Um, both of you?" I said. "Very well then." Chiron said, "What is it? Annabeth said something about a dream?" "Uh, yeah. It's been bothering me." I confessed. Chiron leaned closer. So I told him about the girls. He identified Felicia, "Yes, I know her. Felicia... Addams. Yes, I believe that was her name. I will summon her at once."

"That's the thing. I think she's with Luke." I said. Chiron told Annabeth to get her anyway. After a few minutes she came back, alone. "Chiron, she's missing! I can't find her anywhere! Someone said she never came back from her quest." Annabeth panted.

Chiron rose, now in Centaur form. "What? How can that be? I know everything about my campers! This is not good." He had a worried look on his face. I knew she was important. "What quest?" I asked. "To retrieve a potential demigod." He answered. "I thought that was the satyr's job." I pressed. "Well, she had to replace the satyr who was supposed to go. Broke a hoof." Chiron explained.

I wanted to ask why they didn't just send another satyr, but I didn't. We were silent for a while. "So what now?" Annabeth asked. "And who was Felicia bringing to camp?" I also asked. "Tarynn Smith. Monsters have been attacking her since her mother died." Chiron said, "And we have to find them. Something bigger could be at stake. Please, Percy, go consult the Oracle."
