The Librarian
Crash
I spent most of the car ride to Leo and Calypso's apartment staring out the car window and wiping the occasional tear off my cheek. I hated crying - I hated the weak heroines in the books I read who constantly cried and hid behind the big, strong hero. I didn't want to turn into someone like that.
"You okay back there?" Calypso asked, her soft voice soothing.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I scrubbed at my face with my fists and took a deep breath.
"How's the bump on your head?" She patted at it with some sort of sweet smelling towel, and my headache instantly disappeared.
"It's great, now. Thanks." I smiled faintly.
Calypso's mouth curved up too, her eyes shining as she turned back forward in her seat. "LEO!" She screamed out of the blue, and jerked the wheel to the left. The sports car went flying off the road and into the ditch.
I shook my head out and pushed myself up on my elbow. "Who's not dead?"
"OWWWW..." Leo groaned, touching his forehead. A tiny scratch from a branch that had made its way through the open window was bleeding. "I'm dying from infection!"
"SHHH!" Calypso shoved Leo down. I could barely hear it, but I heard a growling sound from outside the car.
"Is that...a hellhound?" Leo stage-whispered.
"Let's see here. YES!" Calypso's brown eyes were huge from fear. "Now shut it!"
"I don't have any weapons!" Leo complained.
"Leo." I groaned. "Look down."
"Wha-?" He looked down at his hands, folded neatly in his lap. "Oh. Right." He grinned wickedly. "Let's do this."
