The Librarian
Finding Nemo... I mean Nico. Yes, Nico.
Leo and Calypso took me back to their apartment, insisting on my staying the night until they were sure I would be healthy enough to return to my flat. They argued their case the whole car ride and by the time I had relented we were already parked outside their apartment block.
"You guys are total cheats." I muttered and they laughed as they lead me to the elevator.
I followed them to the fourth floor and through a series of corridors before Calypso pulled out a set of keys and unlocked a door, opening it to reveal a beautifully simplistic apartment. There was enough light but not too many windows, enough furniture but it wasn't cluttered, enough decoration but it wasn't busy.
"Wow." I breathed.
Cally winced as she saw me looking around the room. "Sorry I haven't had a chance to clean yet today." She apologized, brushing an invisible speck of dust from the arm of a chair.
"What?" I asked. "No it's perfect! Amazing actually!"
She smiled. "Well I'm glad you like it. Come on, I'll show you to our spare room." She led me down a short hallway and opened the door to a quaint baby-blue room with a single bed against the wall. The other side of the room was taken up by a box of plush animals, a small cot and a box with a picture of a pram on it.
I spun around and looked at Cally in shock, she looked absolutely mortified. "Is there something you're not telling me about you and Leo?" I asked.
Her pale cheeks were a bright red. 'We didn't want to tell the others quite yet. I mean, with all that's been going on everyone is already under so much stress and-"
She was cut off when I squeezed her tight in a hug, careful not to squash her stomach. "Congratulations! You two are going to be wonderful parents!"
I let her go and she smiled, her cheeks still flushed. "Do you want something for dinner or do you need to rest?" She asked, diplomatically changing the subject.
I laughed. "Food always wins that debate."
She giggled. "Okay come on then, I'll fix you up something while you talk to Leo about finding Nico."
"That sounds like Finding Nemo." I said and Calypso looked at me quizzically. "Nevermind. But that sounds good."
She led me back down the hallway and pointed me toward the living room where Leo sat fiddling with gears. "I'll call you when food is ready." She said before walking away.
I walked across the room and took a seat beside Leo. "So what's our plan for Finding Nemo? I mean... Nico. Yes, Nico."
Leo grinned and looked up from his project. "We'll figure one out in the morning when you're awake enough to remember your boyfriend's name."
"I'm not even tired." I yawned. "You know, we could always just go and see what this 'M' person has to say?" I suggested.
"Dinner is up!" Calypso called from the kitchen and Leo gave me a stony look.
"We're not meeting this person, Kimmi. It's dangerous. Very dangerous. We've already risked enough."
I nodded my understanding and followed my nose to the kitchen where some vaguely obscure leafy dish sat on a small table.
I thanked Cally and she left the kitchen to join Leo while I sat down and ate, wishing Nico was there beside me.
