Nicolas Evens: The Rise of the new ones

The monsters caught up to us in no time. By now, I was caked in golden Ichor and swarmed by thousands of monsters. Apparently, the monsters seeked out the finest cuisine: a child of the three brothers. Slashing around, two empusai dropped dead. In a burst of ichor I glanced over to se hellhounds and cyclopes over power my friends.

Adam was using his spear to swat away the hellhounds one by one. In a swift strike, he slashed one dead as the others regrouped surrounding him. I didn't see any danger in his wake, Adam seemed confident when it came to his abilities. Ever since, he was claimed he had become different. Like he could control himself.

Liz on the other had was wild. She was slabbing and jabbing anything in sight. She'd pick off the cyclopes, one by one. In a wake of ichor, she moved onward destroying monsters she'd lock eyes on. Whatever got into her, I was thankful she was on our side.

Diverting my attention back to the monsters swarming me, I sighed. "Fine then. If you want to taste the might of a child of Hades, then come on!"

Welding my sword, I twisted it and allowed the power of darkness to seep in. In an instant the blade morphed. It wasn't a celestial bronze blade anymore, now it was a pure black and stell blade. The element was from the Underworld. It was called Stygian Iron. An ancient element only sacreted in the Underworld.

Taking a deep breath, I channeled the power of the shadows as I let loose one swipe of the blade, in an explosion of darkness, all the monsters fossilized until they shattered into grains of sand.

Collapsing to my knees, I sighed. "Crap. Even after so much training, this is my limit, one attack?" Turning to my side, I noticed Adam and Liz were on their way toward me.

"Nicolas! What was that?" He asked.

"It was Umbrakinesis. The ability to manipulate darkness and shadows." I huffed exhaustedly. "It's hard for me to use but it's effective."

"Talk about effective." Liz smiled. "But what's up with your sword? It's different."

Struggling to my feet, I smiled. "It's my stygian Iron sword, it's named Reaper, because unlike celestial bronze, it has a unique ability."

"The way it kills monsters." Adam murmured. "Stygian Iron is a unique mineral recently discovered in the Underworld. The mineral absorbs life aura into it and despersses it in a wide range causing it's enemy to dessicate till death."

"Exactly." I sighed looking at the wastedland of the dessicated and recently piles of sand. "We should keep moving. If we don't find a place to crash for the night, it'll get worse soon."

"No, No! Don't go so soon." A familiar voice called out. Turning around, I noticed the two monsters from my dream. They were shades. Both were sporting armor but they looked different. One held celestial bronze plated chest wear while the other sported an imperial gold plated chest wear. They both were made of darkness and looked like a humanoid demon.

"What are they?!" Liz wondered unknowingly. It didn't surprise me, we had never met these creatures before. Well, at least she didn't. Adam on the other hand, looked like he'd seen a ghost.

"They're Shades." Adam and I said simultaneously. Tutning to him, I smiled. He had never seen this creature before, yet he knew what it was and what they were capable of.

"How did?" I started.

"I had a dream. These things would capture you and take you to some woman of divine beauty. I'm assuming she's our enemy."

"Nyx. The first pronogenoi. She's a powerful goddess, and the one who is controlling them." I replied.

"Good to know that you've heard of her." The shades replied. "Now, why not come with us easily, we'd hate to have to kill one of your friends here, Nicolas Evens."

Remember that dream? Well, the shades are back! The battles are going to continue, more characters will appear. Don't be surprised to see some of our old friends from the Heroes of Olympus, or should I say old enemies?
