Nicolas Evens: The Rise of the new ones

Atlanta was a beautiful city. It was filled with plenty of mortals and a lot of historical context. From what I remembered from history class in seventh grade, or at least the bit that I had attended, there was big civil war battle here. I don't recall who it was but he was vaugely important. Not just to the mortals but also to the demigods.

"Famous spot in the American Civil war." Adam murmured. "General Sherman, Union leader. He atood ona hill overlooking the city of Atlanta as it burned to the ground."

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"Don't know, but it's the truth. I could feel the historical context." Adam regestired.
Liz smiled, as she looked at Adam's eyes. "It was Apollo. He revealed the truth of this city through your voice. But let's get a bit more through me." Chanting in Ancient Greek, Liz used some ancient spell to force the spirit of Apollo into her.

"What happened?" I looked confused, as Adam blinked. He looked around as if he didn't understand where we were almost like he had been asleep the entire time.

"General Sherman was a demigod." Liz said as she blankly stared at the city. "He was a son of Ares. But unlike most of them in today's culture he was more. . . refined. He did things in an ospicuous way. Don't get me wrong he did cut a path of destruction all the way from here to the sea, but he was civilized when it came to orders of business."

In a tingle up my spine, I drew my sword. "Who ever you are, you're not Liz, expell yourself at once!"

"I've heard good word of you. Nicolas Evens." Liz spoke in an old manner. She had a harsh Greek accent which would often surface when she spoke. "I'm not going to harm her. After all what kind of father would I be if I hurt my own daughter. I'd become Hades."

"Dad?" Adam murmured.
Smiling, Liz turned to him. "Hello, son. I'm quite proud of you. How's that gift of yours? The last time someone of my blood had that precise gift it was during the age of the English monarch. In the seventeen hundreds to be exact. I enjoyed seeing the crafts that my child used that power for. But the beauty of that power was shatter in the fire of 1666."

"Why are you here?" I asked. "Apollo, you out of all gods would know that time is of the essence. We must find Grover Underwood. He holds the key to the maze, and we need entrance by tonight."

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but your friend is in grave danger, he probably is being pelted at by aquarium animals. Sharks. Whales? Anything that trives off of saltwater, will probably try to kill him."

"Where can you find an aqarium in Georgia? More precisely, which one?" I asked.

"Georgia Aquarium." Apollo wondered. "Good Zeus, this modern civilization thing is often evolving. They could've picked a better name for the bloody aquarium. If anything they could've asked Poseidon."

"How, he's a Greek god that lives in the sea." I murmured. "Praying to an Ancient mythological god isn't what most mortals do. Heck, they only believe in one."

"Let's not go down that road, it's ironic that they believe in things such as science, funny humor really. But anyways, do remind my daughter to never use that spell again on a god. The next time, it could end worse than it has." In a wave of golden light, Liz passed out.

When she awoke, she was wiped of her memory just like Adam was. We decided to fill her in as we walked. Adam told her about how Apollo had taken control of her body and pressed the matter that something bad was happening to Grover.

I told her that Apollo had warned us to inform her about never using that spell again. It was the least I could do after finding out that gods could possess demigods. It was a weird thing to think about, but then again Gods are capable of masking their form and poseing as others, wasn't that the same as body possession.

We arrived at the aquarium at noon. We decided to make our way through the crowds, grab a bite to eat and then snoop around before we bumped into them.

I saw a woman sporting a worker's uniform and a man in bermuda shorts a v-neck t-shirt and a microphone around his neck. Weird fashion statement but I didn't complain.

"Welcome. We've been expecting you, demigods." The woman said.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm Kate and this her is my husband Phorcys. We own this aquarium." She said with an undermining voice. I could tell based on the way her eyes beamed at us that this woman was trouble. Her aura was off. It looked like it was mortal yet had the imprints of an ancient god.

"Now, love." Phorcys began. "These kids here are guest, besides I'm sure they are here for a particular reason."

"Yea, we're here because we got a type that you have unique marine animals." I lied. I knew this guy was dangerous but considering their names didn't ring any bells, I decided to play along.

"Cut the small talk, Nicolas Evens. I know who your here for. The saytr. Grover Underwood." He smiled. "But the problem is, I'm under orders to protect the primordials. I'm sure you get it, protect your own kind sorta thing."

"You're a Primordial God?"

"The god of the dangers of the sea. I am Phorcys. I shall protect my aunt, the goddess of night."

"Good to know. Then, I guess, we've only got one way out of this." Drawing my sword, I willed the blade to summon darkness. In a tint of darkness the blade morphed into Reaper. I smiled, as my friends stood on either side of me ready for battle.

"I'll give you one last chance, hand over Grover and you'll live long enough to stay on earth for another minute!"

Smiling, Phorcys whistled to have two sea creatures erupt from their containment tanks. "Let's see if you can survive long enough to see that threat through."

Phorcys has returned alongside his wife Keto. The two primordials are out to stop the demigod team from reaching Nyx and delaying them long enough for her to activate the fruits of her plan.
