Nicolas Evens: The Rise of the new ones

Chapter 14

The sea creatures were insufferable. Every minute, new ones would appear and I would be faced with more than I could handle. Luckily, Adam and Liz were around to help fend off the calvry.

After a few minutes, the sea creatures began to flee as Adam used his pyrokinesis to lead them away from us. Struck with an Idea, I decided to tell the group.

"Guys! Let's split up!" I offered.
Amazed, Adam and Liz looked at me like I was crazy. "Why would we do that?!" Liz replied. "It'll take longer to kill off the monsters!"

Taking a deep breath, I smiled. Raising my blade to the sky, I channeled the powers of darkness. In a plauge of night, the entire area was covered with black mist. Opening my eyes, I smiled. I didn't know if this was gonna work, but it was the best chance at destroying the monsters or at least containing them.

"Guys! What ever you do stand still!" I order. In a slice of the darkness I banished the monsters back. Cuting through the black mist wasn't the easiest thing to do, but It at least created openings for me to get closer to Phorcys.

In a breath of darkness, the monsters were back in their containment tanks now with black mist gaurding them. Dropping the vail of darkness, I smiled to see Phorcys appluading me in my efforts.

"I'm inpressed." He murmured. "The last demigod to be capable of besting my beasts was a child of Poseidon. He was a bit better than you with his own abilities. Although, he was indeed older too."

"Now that your monsters are down, I'm going to gut you open if you don't tell me where Grover is!" I threatened him. I was tired pf these games already. I was on a quest and this guy was delaying our progression. If he didn't offer us Grover at this minute, I was going to use my other abilities to show him the terror that children of Hades have.

"He's in the back. But you won't get to him in time." Phorcys said. At that moment his microphone morphed into a trident. It was odd considering the trident was a symbol of Poseidon, but he was in fact a sea god. Stepping forward Phorcys smiled. "You'll have to get through us first!"

In a quick screech, Keto morphed into her true form. She didn't look like a normal attendant now. All of her pleasing features were morphed into a cross between Atlantian mermaid and freakish sea monster.

Turning to Adam I smiled. "Adam! Take Keto, I'll take Phorcys!"
Nodsing, Adam readied himself.

"What do I do?" Liz wondered like she was lost in a big city. Turning to her, I smiled.
"You go fetch Grover, while we deal with these clowns!"
Nodding, Liz scampered off into the back. In a quick shadow, I prevented Phorcys and Keto from stopping her.

"You're fighting us!" I shouted as a circle of flame surrounded us. Looking back, Adam sighed. His eyes were heated with determination and I could see he wasn't the smae guy he was when I met him.

"Fine then," Phorcys smiled. "Keto let's get this done with quickly." In a puddle of water the surrounding flames died. Twirling his trident, Phorcys charged at me. In a light movement of my hand the blade blocked his assult. He was well adversed when it came to aggressive attack. Every strick was pent with rage and in a haste.

Shoving him off of me, I glanced at Adam for a split second. His movement were built on speed too. But it was different from common core practice. Adam was not attacking first. He was more defending. He was moving in a combat style than reflected his opponent' attack. He was fighting in a calm and civilized unorthadox manner.

Paying attention to Phorcys, Adam shouted. "Look out!" Snapping back to reality, I noticed Phorcy's strike before I was impaled. In raged, I used my power over fear. In a cold wave of air, my disposition changed and I began showing the true nature of benevolent god. The power surged through me until It changed the atmosphere altogether.

I was now using my powers over fear to cripple my enemy. Unnerved he looked tense as of he were trying to retain his composure. Slowly moving my fingers up, the ground fractured as skeleton warriors rose to there feet. At my command a unit of three skeleton warriors assembled.

"I am Nicolas Evens. The son of Hades. God of the Underworld, brother to fear itself. The one that holds no bounds and a slayer of thousands of monsters. I've sent monsters to eternal torment and I will be nightmare to you!" In a wave of power, darkness consumed my body as I raised my blade. I wasn't thinking about the quest anymore, all I could see was Phorcys not the quest, not my friends and definitely not justice.

Waving my blade down, a wave of black mist reached him. In a sear of flames Phorcys drpped to his feet. I quickly appeared before him and pressed my arm against his throat as I slowly drove the stygian iron blade into his torso. "Muerete!" I shouted as he slowl drifted off into a coma.

Turning my attention to Keto, I smiled. In a pillar of flames, she was slowly burning off into dust as Adam sighed unappaled and bored.

"They're not done here." Adam stated boldly as I calmed down. Feeling a wave of fatiuge I dropped to the ground and noticed that my little stunt took more than I figured out of me.

"What do you mean?" I asked. In a ray of light, Phorcys and Keto stood right behind me. Phorcys looked unpleased and Keto still retained her sea creatyre face.

"I'm impressed with your little speech. Slayer of thousands eh?" Phorcys smiled. "Well, let me be the last thing you ever get to face then." In a vortex of winds, the air conditioners burated off their stations. Grabbing anything and everything in sight, the winds transformed into a hurricane of pure agony. I slowly was drawn into it, as I willed the earth to my command.

The skeletons I had summoned charged forward trying to protect me, but even they got sucked into the storm. I gazed at Phorcys with a dash of hatred in my eyes. There was no way I was gonna fail this quest. Not even if I had to kill a god.

Tapping my stygian iron blade it released Illiad, as I smiled. I remembered being told once by Grover that Celestial bronze was the only thing that could kill an immortal. If he was right then, I was about to use this as my only chance. Rising to my feet, I stabled myself and allowed the winds to draw me in. Once inside the hurricane, I could see everything at high-speed.

Adam was now locked in a sword fight with Keto. His movement still unorthadoxed and calm, yet still effective. Focusing my attention back to the hurricane, I moved my way closer to the eye of the storm.

Finally within proximity of Phorcy's heart, I plunged the celestial bronze blade into his torso. In pain, Phorcys kicked me back into the storm. Relasing his grip on the hurricane, I plummited back to the ground in pain.

"You've been a pain far too long." Phorcys conveyed. "It's time to end this!"
"Agreed," I rose to my feet, taking aim at his heart, I threw the blade at him. Sailing through the air it plunged into his heart. Coughing up ichor, Pnorcys dropped to the ground in pain. "No! This can't be!" Pulling out the blade, he continued coughing up ichor.

"I've got him!" Liz called out, appearing through the backdoors with a weakened and frail Grover Underwood.

"Alright! Adam let's go, we've gotta leave now!" In a swirl of flames, Adam nodded as he left the two gods in prisons of flames.

Notes

NOTES.

Not my best chapter, but yeah, Phorcys and Keto have been defeated. The next chapter will talk about why and what Grover knows about the Maze. We're closing in on the time of entry.

Continue reading and the maze shall appear soon.
