The Circle

After the most depressing funeral of my life, I was sent to Chance Harbor in Washington, to live with the only family I had left, my grandmother.

When I got to her house the door was open, I called out for her but there was no answer, I looked around then found my mother's room, that is now my own room.

I heard someone come in, I looked downstairs and saw it was my grandmother.

" Hey!" I said, she looked up at me and smiled. I raced downstairs as fast as I could and gave her a big hug.

" Where were you, your door was open." I asked

" I was just at the market, I must of forgotten to close the door, I guess I was in a hurry, there was a big sale today, you should go out to the mall, go and meet some people, it would be good for you to go out, besides dinner is a surprise and won't be ready till later." my grandmother answered.

I nodded back upstairs to my bedroom to change into something more appropriate.

I decided to where a white tank top, a pair of cut off shorts, and flip flops and I put my hair in a messy bun with tons of my messy blonde hair sticking out.

" I'll be back in about two hours." I told my grandma while running out the door.

" Wear a jacket, it's supposed to get cold tonight!" she suggested.

So I ran back to my room and got my leather jacket and went outside to my car.

Once I got there I was instantly greetted by a girl that looked about my age with long brown hair and stormy grey eyes.

"Hi! You must be Emma, so sorry for your loss, our parents used to be close friends, I'm Annabeth but all my friends call me Anna."

"Is this the new girl?" a boy asked, he was really cute with black hair and sea green eyes with the look of a rebble in his dreamy eyes, he was just my type.

" Yah, that's me, and you are?" I answered.


" This is my boyfriend, Percy, we've been together since sixth grade." she said looking up at him.

Great, I thought, the only thing closest to a friend is dating the first guy that I thought was decent.

" Hey, wanna come to our place, I have something I wanna show you,"

"Sure," I said.

" Great!"

I followed her car to an abandoned house up on a hill,I thought she was joking but this happened to be the place.

When we got inside there were three other people already in there, two girls and one boy, who I recognized to be my next door neighbor.

" Well it's not really showing anything, it's more like telling you, your not normal, none of us are, all of our families are connected by blood, we are all witches," Anna said.

I laughed, " Your joking right, those are just myths, I'm getting out of here this is all just a way to get me into your little group and I'm not falling for it!" I retaliated.

Suddenly a big flame appeared in the middle of the room.

"What's happening, are you guys doing this, trying to scare me into joining you, I'm leaving and I'm never going to join you guys this is all a big hoax!"

I ran out of the house and into the forest, suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned around to see it was Percy.

He got a leaf and said " Put your hand on mine and hold out this leaf and repeat what I say, a drop of water as light as air, a drop of water as light as air."

I did as he said, " Now close your eyes and when I say to open them open your eyes."

After a couple seconds he told me to open my eyes, water droplets everywhere were in the air. " How did you do that?" I asked.

" It was us, out energy is linked together to form a bond that goes into the leaf and the other leaves," he said, then out of no where, he kissed me, it was the most wonderful, and passionate kiss I have ever felt, then I remembered, Anna and Percy are dating, I can't ruin a perfect relationship or friendship.

I let go, " I'm sorry, I can't, Anna's my friend, I can't do this to her," I said, then I ran for my car and went home, thinking about Percy, and that kiss, I just can't do this to Anna, I hope tomorrow will be better.
