The Daughters of the Big Three

Chapter Nine

“A demi-titan?” Zac scans Kris. Kris doesn’t seem to be surprised.
“You knew, didn’t you Kris?” Accailia asks.
“You’re the one who caused the crack!” I exclaim. “You have been doing some time-traveling and then you opened a rift through dimensions!”
“Wait, you can time-travel?” Accailia asks. Kris backs up against the tree. He runs his finger down the rift and it begins to glow. Then Kris vanishes.
“No, wait!” I run up to the tree. I run my finger down the crack and wait for it to begin to glow. Nothing happens. I turn to Zac. “How did you and Jace get through?”
“Like I said, we walked up to it because it was glowing. Then something pushed us through.”
“Do you know what pushed you through?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t see it.”
“Accailia, go tell Chiron what just happened,” Accailia nods and runs down the hill.
“Now what?” Zac asks.
“I’m not sure,” I say. “I’m new here so I don’t know what happens in these kind of situations.”
“I have a feeling someone is going to go on a quest soon,” Zac says.
“Yeah,” I agree. I see now that Accailia is coming back up the hill with Chiron, Drea, Jace, and a girl with red hair in tow.
“I believe someone is going to be going on a quest now,” Chiron says.
“Really?” I ask, “Who?”
“We shall see,” Motioning to the girl he says, “This is Rachel, our Oracle.”
“Hello,” Rachel smiles, “Let’s get this over with.”
“Wait, Oracle? What-” But I don’t finish because Rachel’s eyes begin the glow green and then swirling mist comes around us.
She opens her mouth and more mist spews out. Then she talks in a new voice, “Five shall journey to find the Son of Time, and one will pay the ultimate fine. Another will never return home, forever in a foreign world he shall roam. The Daughter of the Sea will lead them all, and take the blame for the ones that fall.”
The mist evaporates and the light in Rachel’s eyes fade. She stumbles but catches herself.
“What does that mean? ‘One will pay the ultimate fine.’” Accailia asks. “Is someone going to die?”
“It did say ‘The ones that fall.’” Drea reasons.
“Nah, wait. Why am I leading?” I ask. “I don’t even know what just happened.”
“Our Oracle just spoke to you the prophecy of your quest,” Chiron explains. “The one you will be leading.”
“Okay… So we have to do this?” I ask.
“You must,” He says. “You specifically, Elaina. You were named in the prophecy. And now we know that Kris is indeed the son of Kronos,” Chiron sighs. “Who would you like to take on your quest?”
“Err… Probably these four,” I gesture to Drea, Accailia, Jace, and Zac.
“Very well,” Chiron says. “You will leave tomorrow morning.”
“Where are supposed to go?” I ask.
“Jace can tell you.”
I turn to Jace who says, “I brought Zac and myself here. I controlled the mist to make Zac think it was already glowing and that we were pushed,” He spits out the truth. “Zac was pushed at least. By me. I can’t travel through time, but I can travel through dimensions.”
