Percabeth One-shots

In Good Hands

Sally woke up to the mot disturbing sound in the world coming from the bathroom. Paul's arms were draped over her waist and she had to move them carefully so he wouldn't wake up. The alarm clock read ten twenty five and Sally got up, slid on her slippers and robe and made her way to the bathroom. She could smell the vomit from the hallway and the repulsive gagging got worse as she got closer. By the time she got to the bathroom, the gagging sound stopped but the smell was as disgusting as ever. She gingerly knocked on the bathroom door.

"Percy?"

"Mom?" his voice was groggy and hoarse. "I'm fi-" he stopped mid word and upchucked again. He cleared his throat and Sally could hear that it hurt him. "I'm fine."

"Percy, don't lie to me."

"I'm just throwing up."

"Percy, open the door."

The door slowly opened and Sally's heart sank. Percy was the color of spoiled milk and his sea green eye that usually held joy and confusion were sunken and exhausted. He was shivering in his long sleeve night shirt and fleece pants from cold and pain. His hair was ruffled and his perky grin was replaced with a depressed frown. Sally wanted nothing more than to take the pain from her son. She wouldn't care how many times he saved the world; Percy was her baby boy. She placed her hand on his cheek and knew right away his fever was nothing short of a hundred.

"Oh Percy, how long have you been up?"

"Like an hour or so," he mumbled. "I'll be fine though, nothing serious."

He slumped against the door frame and drooped his head. She could tell it was from exhaustion and sadness. He was home for spring break and was suppose to go on a date with Annabeth while Sally and Paul went out. Well, Sally thought, looks like our plans are canceled. She took Percy's arm and draped it over her shoulder and guided him to the couch and fetched him a blanket. She then made some tea and gave that to him along with a bucket. She had finished cleaning up the bathroom and washed up herself before Paul got up.

Sally had put on some jeans and a brown tee shirt with her hair pined up in a bun. Paul looked like he was about to say something then his glance went over to Percy. He gave her a pitied look and stepped in the bathroom to get the thermometer. Paul gave Sally a quick peck on the lips before he made his way to his pale step son. Percy took the thermometer and took his own temperature. When Paul shouted that Percy's temperature was 115, Sally stepped in and looked Percy dead in the eyes.

"Don't even think about it Percy, you are not going anywhere and we are not leaving you alone."

Percy did his best to smile. "Mom, I'm seventeen. I fought more monsters than I can count. I'll be fine on my own."

"Yeah, no. I'll call Annabeth and let her know you can't make it," Sally replied.

"But Mooooooom!"

"Percy, listen to your mother. We're staying here," Paul said.

Percy looked like he was about to say something, but his cheeks puffed up and he hurled in the bucket. Paul made his way to the bathroom and Sally went to her bedroom to get her cell phone. She dialed 7, Annabeth's speed dial. She remembered when she saved it there all those months ago; in case she needed to call her over and lift her spirits when she worried about Percy. Sally was so lost in thought she almost didn't hear Annabeth pick up.

"Hi Sally!" she perked on the other line.

"Hello Annabeth, I just wanted to tell you that Percy can't make your date today."

"What's wrong?" her voice dripping with concern.

"He's sick. A 115 degree fever, vomiting, shivering and he's pale. Hello?" Sally had just finished explaining how bad Percy was when the line went dead.

She knew that Annabeth would call back as soon as she could. Sally stepped into the living room to see her son and husband in a semi heated argument Percy was trying to convince Paul that he would be okay alone. Paul just kept saying that there was no way they were going to leave him alone in his condition. Paul had changed into a deep orange button down and jeans. Sally just went back to the kitchen and got some medicine ready and started looking for some soup. A good five minuets passed when there was a knock at the door. When Sally answered the door, since Paul was still talking to Percy, she was pretty shocked to see Annabeth.

Annabeth was wearing her Camp Half-Blood shirt and capris with sandals and her hair in a pony tail. She said a quick hello to Sally and made her way to the living room and stepped in between Paul and Percy. They both stopped talking right away.

"Hello Paul, it's nice to see you. Seaweed Brain, stop complaining. You are staying home today and that's final. I'll watch after you while Paul and Sally go out. No Paul, I don't mind and I'm not taking no for an answer. Sally! Where's the medicine?" Sally couldn't help but smile. Her son had an interesting taste in ladies.

"In the kitchen dear," she said.

With that, Sally went into the bedroom to change into something more presentable. When she came out of the bedroom, in her black capris and turquoise short sleeved blouse and silver slides, her jaw dropped a little. Percy was sitting up straight on the couch and Annabeth seemed to be scolding him. Paul was just standing in the hallway, dumb founded. He turned to Sally and smiled. She smiled back and joined him.

"But Wise Girl, I don't want to take that!"

"Look Seaweed Brain, if you don't take it you'll only get worse!"

"Can't I have some water?"

"Take the medicine first."

"But why!?"

"Don't you dare 'but why?!' me or give me that puppy dog face. Take. The. Medicine."

"But-"

"Or I won't kiss you for a week. You choice."

"Fine." Facing defeat, Percy allowed Annabeth to feed him his medicine. Paul and Sally stifled a laugh as they bid there goodbyes and left the house. Sally was looking forward to her day out, knowing her son was in good hands.
